Excellent tour and guide - Caitriona is full of anecdotes and knowledge, and she took time and effort to connect with each of us on the tour, which made it even more interactive and relatable. Great experience for my daughter & friends (11 year olds) as it brought to life what they had learnt in school about the famine. We were lucky to have a small enough group on the tour, so we had ample space to look at the exhibits once inside the ship. The tour took about 1hr, which was the perfect amount of time, not rushed. A super interesting visit, would highly recommend!

This is probably the best way to learn quickly about the famine and the "coffin ships" in part because this particular ship has such a positive and good story that keeps the experience from becoming too tough an emotional experience. Not that they downplay how bad things were; just that it is fascinating to see the story of a ship and an owner who tried to help and be a positive force for Irish people. Our guide, Stephen, was excellent, and really brought the stories to life.

This was great - liked it a lot. Better than EPIC. Choose this instead

An interesting visit and very pleasantly led by a young guide. Be careful the stairs are steep to descend into the lower deck. The visit illustrates the period of emigration of Irish to the USA and Canada.

We visited some museums in Dublin but this tour was by far the best. So vividly telling that I could have listened for hours. I’ll make it short, that’s what should be done in Dublin at the top

Booked as an add on to the EPIC museum and this was the best activity of our trip. Our guide was really knowledgable and made it fun.

I recently did the Jeanie Johnston tour in Dublin and overall, it was a very worthwhile and educational experience. It offers a powerful insight into the history of the ship and the Irish Famine, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in understanding that period. Our guide, Faye, was engaging, knowledgeable, and brought the story to life very well. However, I want to mention one point that I found disappointing. At one stage, Faye explicitly said that she “wouldn’t recommend visiting” rural Ireland. As someone originally from France who lives in the countryside, I found this comment dismissive and somewhat offensive. What made it more surprising is that she mentioned she had studied the Irish language. Given the strong connection between Irish culture, the language, and rural communities, and considering that the tour itself focuses on the Famine, where so many of those affected were rural families and farmers. I feel that rural Ireland deserves respect in this context. I’m not sure if this was simply an awkward comment that was not meant in that way, but it did stand out and felt out of place during an otherwise thoughtful and respectful tour. That said, this was only one moment in an otherwise very good experience, which I would still recommend overall.

Our tour guide Katrina Patterson made our experience the best! She was outstanding… It was so impactful to hear the history of this ‘miracle boat’.

What a great tour! The closest thing you can get to experiencing what life was like for thousands of emigrants on this replica ship. Didn’t feel like we could have had a better tour guide either - Thank you Catrina, your knowledge and personality made the tour so much more memorable.
