Encounter whales, dolphins, porpoises and birds on this cruise from Reykjavik and see the wildlife in their natural habitat off the capital’s coast. Whales and dolphins are seen on more than 90% of tours in both summer and winter! In the unlikely event you do not see a whale or a dolphin you receive a complimentary ticket to join us again another day.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels

Passengers with limited mobility are warmly welcome. However, please note that our boats are not fully accessible, as steep stairs and high thresholds may limit access to inside areas and toilet facilities.

Wheelchair users are welcome to bring a light-weight chair on board our larger boats. If possible, please notify us of your arrival in advance, as assistance with boarding may be required.

If conditions in Reykjavík are unfavourable, the tour may either be cancelled or depart from an alternative harbour, which could extend the duration by 1-2 hours.

Enjoy a 2-3,5 hr. cruise in Faxaflói bay in search for whales and other wildlife. Stunning views on the horizon and excellent onboard services provided. Feel free to borrow our overalls to stay warm on the outside deck. Most common whales we encounter are humpback whales and minke whales, although other species make their way into the bay a handful of times a year. If no whales or dolphins make an appearance on the tour, we will offer you to try again another day, free of charge!

Classic Whale Watching

Duration: 3 hours: Total duration of the tour is approx. 2-3,5 hours, depending on factors such as wildlife sightings and weather conditions.
Refreshments: Light refreshments and beverages are available for purchase on board.
Whale Watching Zone: We sail from Reykjavík's Old Harbour and our search area is Faxaflói bay. On rare occasions, we depart from other harbours.
Boat Amenities: We operate on a specially modified 150-200 passenger boat. Heated indoor areas, toilets and bar available on board.
Dress Code: Please make sure to dress according to the weather at sea. If needed, we have overalls you can borrow for free.

Super exciting as saw 2 humpbacks and a pod of dolphins. The crew seemed to know where to find them and were full of knowledge. Great sailing there and back. Well worth doing. Very cold face and fingers (due to photographing) though so wrap up.

My family and I had a great 3 or so hour cruise. Overalls were supplied to keep out the cold. We saw 2 humpback whales and a pod of white tailed dolphins. I would definitely recommend this tour and would repeat it if/when I return to Iceland!! Elding even supply photos of the day free of charge via Dropbox the following day. Thank you for great memories!!

Had a really good time on this whale watching tour, the on-board marine biologist was interesting and funny, and kept us entertained while helping us look out for the signs of whales. We were lucky enough to see 3 humpbacks on our trip, and they surfaced practically right next to the boat! Wonderful.

Cold in the winter! Otherwise it was fun. Coffee was delicious, and they extended the trip because whales were spotted just as we were ready to go back.

The guide, Emily, was very informative. It’s a shame that as we were at the back of the boat, sitting with our backs to the speaker, we couldn’t hear her properly for some of the time because of the noise of the engine and the wind but, as I said, she was great when we could hear her. It was a slow day for seeing whales, we had to wait about an hour and a half but when they finally appeared there were two humpbacks, which is apparently rare. We followed them for half an hour or so. They didn’t do the big splashes but we saw them blow through their blow holes and their tails, they were majestic. Luckily, our boat was the first to spot them so we had more time to see them. Even though we didn’t see any other types of whales etc. it was still magical to see and you can’t account for wildlife, lol. As with most experiences in Iceland, it is quite expensive. A nice touch though, was the company emailed us photos of the whales after the experience.

The whale watching tour was fantastic. They explained what type of whales we were seeing as well as information about our surroundings. The boat is fairly comfortable as you have the option of being inside or outside. It was very cold and windy so it was nice to be able to go in for a few minutes to warm up.. They do give you overalls and jackets if you need them. We were able to see two humpback whales on the tour. The nice surprise was at the end, they let us know that they had been taking pictures. So once we got back to the hotel later that night, I was able to look at the email with the pictures and a report of what we saw. Everyone was very friendly and helpful on this tour and I highly recommend!

Had amazing time there. Professional crew and amazing bus driver for the pick up, we don't remember his name but he had the whole bus laughing and was very friendly and easy to talk to and the guide was wholesome and she was super informative, we don't remember her name either. The boat was clean and tidy, service was good and none of us were sick Our friends are coming next summer and we recommended them this. Thank you
