Encounter whales, dolphins, porpoises and birds on this cruise from Reykjavik and see the wildlife in their natural habitat off the capital’s coast. Whales and dolphins are seen on more than 90% of tours in both summer and winter! In the unlikely event you do not see a whale or a dolphin you receive a complimentary ticket to join us again another day.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Passengers with limited mobility are warmly welcome. However, please note that our boats are not fully accessible, as steep stairs and high thresholds may limit access to inside areas and toilet facilities.
Wheelchair users are welcome to bring a light-weight chair on board our larger boats. If possible, please notify us of your arrival in advance, as assistance with boarding may be required.
If conditions in Reykjavík are unfavourable, the tour may either be cancelled or depart from an alternative harbour, which could extend the duration by 1-2 hours.

Enjoy a 2-3,5 hr. cruise in Faxaflói bay in search for whales and other wildlife. Stunning views on the horizon and excellent onboard services provided. Feel free to borrow our overalls to stay warm on the outside deck. Most common whales we encounter are humpback whales and minke whales, although other species make their way into the bay a handful of times a year. If no whales or dolphins make an appearance on the tour, we will offer you to try again another day, free of charge!

Classic Whale Watching
Duration: 3 hours: Total duration of the tour is approx. 2-3,5 hours, depending on factors such as wildlife sightings and weather conditions.
Refreshments: Light refreshments and beverages are available for purchase on board.
Whale Watching Zone: We sail from Reykjavík's Old Harbour and our search area is Faxaflói bay. On rare occasions, we depart from other harbours.
Boat Amenities: We operate on a specially modified 150-200 passenger boat. Heated indoor areas, toilets and bar available on board.
Dress Code: Please make sure to dress according to the weather at sea. If needed, we have overalls you can borrow for free.

5.00Very enjoyable boat trip around the bay. About 3 hours and additional clothing supplied if needed. We stayed outside the whole trip even though cold, but ample seating and space indoors. Two hump back whales appeared, amazing, amazing, amazing.

5.00Our session was cancelled yesterday due to bad weather and attended a session today. Managed to spot a whale (banana) today. One thing I hope they could improve is to inform us of the cancellation earlier as we were informed of the cancellation at 7.25am when the activity starts at 9am. Apart from this, the whole experience was good.

5.00Fantastic experience, booking and ticket collection was really easy, we booked the night before. The staff were friendly and commentary enjoyable. We had snacks and hot drinks from the bar (half price refills). We were so lucky to see 2 humpback whales together, the boat stayed with them for some time. Amazing bucket list trip!

5.00We were extremely lucky and managed to see a pair of feeding whales that were moving through the bay and quite close to shore. The whales were known to the crew as Banana & Split and we learnt of the great work the crew provide in helping to map the whales, birds and seals throughout the bay. A truly magical experience and one that we will remember for ever. The excursion was managed very well, the tour guide was very good and provided excellent commentary throughout the journey. The hot chocolate was a life saver as I have never experienced such cold conditions but can highly recommend this excursion. Thank you

5.00What an unbelievable experience!! Seeing two humpback whales — the amazing Banana and Kiwi — was honestly one of the most thrilling moments of my life! They were so majestic, and we got unbelievably close. I managed to capture some truly stunning photos that I’ll treasure forever. I still can’t stop smiling about it! Our guide was absolutely fantastic — super knowledgeable, passionate, and so enthusiastic that it made the whole trip even more exciting. You could feel how much they loved sharing these encounters. And the entire team was incredible! Every staff member was warm, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone had the best possible experience. I cannot thank them enough — they made this adventure unforgettable from start to finish. If you’re anywhere near Iceland and considering whale watching, DO IT. This was an absolute highlight of our trip, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat!

5.00This was truly an amazing experience, although a bit on the cold side. Definitely worth the money as we was 2 humpback whales and quite a few seals. Definitely a bucket list item checked off.

5.00Absolutely fantastic trip! We were fortunate to have lovely weather and were able to see some whales, as the ship captain said “we are not a zoo” when mentioning they cannot guarantee seeing any. It costs £79 for 2.5 hours which I think was very reasonable for the experience we had - this also included a free sea sickness tablet which was a lovely touch and made the experience for my sister who normally suffers from sea sickness very enjoyable and she was not sick at all! We stayed on the lowest outside deck at the back of the boat which was quiet and also had great views of the whales. The staff were all lovely, one member even pointing out to us some seal and different birds during the journey. The only recommendation I would give, which I appreciate it may be hard to do, is to try and clear some of the algae off the windows of the lower deck indoor seating area, it was hard to get clear photos with the algae and may make it harder for passengers with less mobility who are more comfortable sitting down to get the most of their experience as well. Other than that I cannot fault the trip, I think it is good value for money
