While other operators may give you one method of chasing the lights on foot or in a minivan, we are proud to be the only outfitter to invest so much time and customer research into a brand new adventure that gives you not one, but THREE methods to see and photograph the northern lights and the absolute best chances of a successful aurora chase in Abisko National Park. We are proud of the fact that we are fully insured and have all the necessary permits to operate our tours in Abisko National Park, which many of our competitors have simply chosen not to do. All of our evening adventures have a maximum guest to guide ratio of 8:1. This makes the experience much more genuine, and helps us maintain proper social distancing at our locations. Since your adventure includes all transportation, there is not a set time that we have to return back to the hotel, which gives us more flexibility and the ability to stay out later than any other outfitter in Abisko.

Join one of our professional aurora guides for an opportunity to see and photograph the aurora borealis in one of our lovely locations in and around Abisko National Park! Due to a tendency for clear skies, Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the northern lights. We will provide you with a DSLR camera & lens that is preset to capture the northern lights and quickly go over the basic skills that you will need to find and photograph the magical aurora borealis. Our Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure offers you THREE different ways to see the northern lights: depending upon the weather and aurora forecast we will hunt for the lights on foot at a nearby teepee, chase the lights in a modern 4×4 van, or ride on a cozy sleigh which is pulled behind a snowmobile to one of our wilderness camps. This evening under the stars offers you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the culture & natural history of Lapland and gives you a chance to experience beauty that can only be found in Abisko National Park. Small groups of 8 guests guarantee a very personal and genuine experience and ensure a safe and comfortable trip into the Arctic environment.

5.00Words can't say how Incredible this excursion is! Both of my tour guides, Marco and Mateo were awesome and made the experience aboutely amazing. They were efficient and organized getting us to the viewing location and helping us get our cameras set up. They are also very knowledgeable about photography and the northern lights! We went out on extremely cold nights, and the level of care they showed for all of our safety and wellbeing was top notch. You can tell they genuinely care about the people on the tour, they are super attentive to every guest and excellent at ensuring we got the best photos and experience. Even on the first night, when the lights didn't appear, Marco made the experience fun by sharing history of the area and the science of the northern lights. Another night it was mine and another guest's birthday and Mateo had cake and got the group singing happy birthday during a break while we warmed up in the shelter. Truly amazing experience!

5.00An absolutely fabulous experience. Miquel was our sensational guide who taught us how to take amazing photos, appreciate the natural beauty around us, understand the history of this land and just have a fabulous time. He welcomed everyone with ease and a natural warmth, clearly showing his passion for this beautiful place. Miquel went above and beyond to look after us and make sure we had everything we needed. Everything was provided, from cameras to tripods, enough batteries to last through the night and also hot drinks and snacks to keep us going. I would highly recommend this trip with Lights Over Lapland as it was something my son and I will remember for the rest of our days.

5.00The experience was awesome. Well equipped with cameras, we chased the aurora with Marco, who took us to a splendid place free of light pollution, where we had the opportunity to take amazing pictures. Also, Marco was great in explaining to us the physics behind the northern lights in a simple but effective way. In addition, Marco - an interesting person with true-life experience - helped us with the photography, leveraging on his experience as a professional photographer. The suggestions he provided us with, will be very useful for any future photo experience. Overall, we had a great time, full with memories and pictures!

The Best Bucklist Tour of Abisko - Lights over Lapland

5.00Five stars to our guides Mateo, Marco & Romy over the 4 nights we booked a private Aurora Borealis photo tour as were are a family of 9. The 4 night photo tour package comes with 16 Megapixel Digital SLRs like a Nikon D5100 with the standard zoom 20-60 mm lense plus a professional tripod. and a backpack case. A wider angle lense wasn't really needed. You just bring a SD-Card to record all the great photos to take home. and a backpack case + we rented one piece "snowmobile" suit and from some winter boots & they provided crampons / spikes when the conditions became very icy due to the Christmas Day thaw, rain & then flash freeze. Our first night Monday Dec-22-21025 was exceptional & we were blessed by GL-1 minor solar mass ejection that per the guides gave some of the best Aurora Borealis of the year. The remaining 3 nights we had one more viewing of the northern lights as a North Sea storm clouded up the sky. No worries Mateo kept our 3 boys entertained & teaching them fire making skills & stoking the wood stove. Mario was a great instructor as a professional photographer on setup of the camera for night long exposure shots. Romy, Mateo & Garret all were a great help to my 80 year old mother-in-law to get to the locations & guiding us over somewhat icy conditions. The company has various locations & all have a comfortable tent or hut with a small wood stove to escape the cold or wind. The guides serve plenty of Lingonberry (Swedish Lingon / Scientific Vaccinium vitis-idaea) hot tea and plenty of cookies. Some of the sites are within walking distance of the Abisko Tourist Center lodge & others the company takes you by VW van you to the locations. Also kudos to the company & the admin in the office for helping us find a bus company to hire when the Swedish rail company left us stranded with no bus service to make our connections to get to Umea & Stockholm for our ferry to Helsinki.

5.00My family and I did the lights over Lapland tour with our guide Gavin and the experience was beyond amazing. He had such great stories and was such a genuinely nice and caring person and it made seeing the northern lights that much more special. If you’re looking for a northern light tour where you know you’re in good hands, Gavin with lights over Lapland is the person to be with. We were in the Lapland for 4 days and each and every one of those days Gavin made sure that we were taken care of in and outside of the tours we were doing, whether we were in the middle of nowhere chasing the northern lights or eating dinner and someone had an allergy to one of the dishes. Thanks again Gavin for everything you did for my family and I over the trip!

5.00Worth every penny! Out guide Gavin was fantastic and for the 4 nights we were there we saw the lights every night from different locations- all of which were unique and very memorable- without the expert guidance we never would’ve had such an extraordinary experience! Would highly recommend.
