While other operators may give you one method of chasing the lights on foot or in a minivan, we are proud to be the only outfitter to invest so much time and customer research into a brand new adventure that gives you not one, but THREE methods to see and photograph the northern lights and the absolute best chances of a successful aurora chase in Abisko National Park. We are proud of the fact that we are fully insured and have all the necessary permits to operate our tours in Abisko National Park, which many of our competitors have simply chosen not to do. All of our evening adventures have a maximum guest to guide ratio of 8:1. This makes the experience much more genuine, and helps us maintain proper social distancing at our locations. Since your adventure includes all transportation, there is not a set time that we have to return back to the hotel, which gives us more flexibility and the ability to stay out later than any other outfitter in Abisko.

Join one of our professional aurora guides for an opportunity to see and photograph the aurora borealis in one of our lovely locations in and around Abisko National Park! Due to a tendency for clear skies, Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the northern lights. We will provide you with a DSLR camera & lens that is preset to capture the northern lights and quickly go over the basic skills that you will need to find and photograph the magical aurora borealis. Our Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure offers you THREE different ways to see the northern lights: depending upon the weather and aurora forecast we will hunt for the lights on foot at a nearby teepee, chase the lights in a modern 4×4 van, or ride on a cozy sleigh which is pulled behind a snowmobile to one of our wilderness camps. This evening under the stars offers you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the culture & natural history of Lapland and gives you a chance to experience beauty that can only be found in Abisko National Park. Small groups of 8 guests guarantee a very personal and genuine experience and ensure a safe and comfortable trip into the Arctic environment.

5.00I had an incredible time during my tour ! Our guide, Marco was amazing ! He had set up a tent for us to keep us warm whilst trying to capture the perfect photos. He is also a very skilled photographer so you can ask him anything relating to that as well. We finished the tour with some great stories and some great pictures. Cannot recommend enough!!!!!

1.00DO NOT BOOK WITH Lights Over Lapland. I had the Ultimate Aurora Photo Tour booked on a Wednesday night. All the correspondence I received from Lights of Lapland (see attached), stated the tour started at 7:45pm I was waiting in my hotel lobby from 7:30pm waiting for the tour which didn’t come. I was then informed that the tour had been and gone at 7:10pm I didn’t receive any calls or emails trying to locate me. Further after waiting at reception and continuously walking outside in the snow to search for a car, I spoke with reception and asked where the tour was. They knew exactly who I was and mentioned the tour had gone. Frustratingly the tour company Lights Over Lapland are directly linked to the hotel I was staying Hotel Fjallet, to the point where the lobby has a kiosk you can book the tours (see photos attached). Why they didn’t simply knock on my door or contact me through reception, I have no idea. But either way mistakes happen. What is most disappointing is that Lights Over Lapland refused to refund me. Even though there was no email or phone calls made to my contact numbers. I could understand this if I had canceled late. But I waited, emailed and called Light Over Lapland looking for my tour. Very disappointing, there are multiple other companies. Stay away from this absolute train wreck.

5.00I had only one night in Abisko and Lights Over Lapland truly made it unforgettable. They kindly accommodated me at very short notice, and I couldn’t have asked for a better Northern Lights experience. The aurora sightings were absolutely magical, and the whole tour was very well organised. A special mention to **Marco**, whose guidance with the camera equipment was fantastic. He patiently explained how everything worked, shared fascinating Northern Lights stories, and used his expertise brilliantly to track and catch the auroras. His passion and knowledge really elevated the entire experience. The small group, professional setup, and warm gear made the night comfortable and enjoyable, even in Arctic conditions. I came away not only with stunning photos but also with memories I’ll cherish forever. Thank you, Lights Over Lapland, for making my one-night stay in Abisko so special. I truly hope to return someday with my family! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Abisko 🌌✨

5.00We had the most amazing experience with LoL in Abisko. The care and attention to detail , our house, the food ( especially the char and cloudberry jam) Our guide Claudio was full of knowledge and enthusiasm and was fun to be with - ‘cool bananas’ !! We can’t speak highly enough of our time in such a special place . Note these photos are taken on my iPhone as I haven’t downloaded yet

5.00Had an amazing time on this trip thanks to our guide Marco. Definitely recommend Lights Over Lapland as it feels like they know what they're doing compared to some other companies. Marco was also kind enough to give me guidance on how to catch the lights on my own time and during our tour he explained some of the science behind what we see which was really interesting! Highly recommend.

5.00Sara and Miquel crushedddd. They had incredible vibes and did the most to make sure we had a good time and saw the northern lights. I felt very seen, especially as a solo traveler. They were excited to talk about photography and interested in group members.

5.00The entire experience - from booking to bidding adieu after completion - was incredible. Our tour guide, Sara, is simply the best! She patiently and diligently made sure we were fitted with the warm clothes and the camera equipment that we had requested. Both of her recommended places were amazing. She was so helpful in setting up the camera and the photo shoot locations. Her knowledge, kindness, and customer focus are so appreciated. I highly recommend Sara and this tour. Unforgettable evening.

5.00We went on the Ultimate Aurora Photography Adventure and it was a fantastic adventure. Sara was our guide and she played a key role in making our trip memorable. While I took nature photos before, she helped me with several tips that are specific to photographing aurora at night. She gave several tips. She verified my images were in focus and helped setup tripod. She is a really good instructor, precise and to the point. The tour provided Manfroto tripods, Nikon body (D series) and Nikon F lens. Just need to bring your own SD card (not CF express) if you want to use their body or you can buy one from them, but I took my own camera, wide angle lens, cf express card but used their tripod. It worked perfectly. They gave us warm clothes and boots. I brought my own heated gloves and a couple of warm layers for my upper and lower body which kept me warm when we're in an ankle deep snow. I highly recommend this tour. 5 stars.

5.00We joined "The Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure" and it was truly a special experience. Our guide, Matteo, was excellent from the very beginning. During the briefing, he clearly explained everything we needed to know and provided all the equipment (thermal overalls, camera, and tripod), making it easy even for those with little photography experience. During the aurora chase, he was attentive, knowledgeable, and generous with explanations, sharing interesting details about the geography and unique features of the Abisko area. He even set up a fire in the middle of the Arctic night and treated us to a warm drink — a small touch that made the whole experience even more magical. Thanks to him, we enjoyed an unforgettable night under the northern skies.
