While other operators may give you one method of chasing the lights on foot or in a minivan, we are proud to be the only outfitter to invest so much time and customer research into a brand new adventure that gives you not one, but THREE methods to see and photograph the northern lights and the absolute best chances of a successful aurora chase in Abisko National Park. We are proud of the fact that we are fully insured and have all the necessary permits to operate our tours in Abisko National Park, which many of our competitors have simply chosen not to do. All of our evening adventures have a maximum guest to guide ratio of 8:1. This makes the experience much more genuine, and helps us maintain proper social distancing at our locations. Since your adventure includes all transportation, there is not a set time that we have to return back to the hotel, which gives us more flexibility and the ability to stay out later than any other outfitter in Abisko.

Join one of our professional aurora guides for an opportunity to see and photograph the aurora borealis in one of our lovely locations in and around Abisko National Park! Due to a tendency for clear skies, Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the northern lights. We will provide you with a DSLR camera & lens that is preset to capture the northern lights and quickly go over the basic skills that you will need to find and photograph the magical aurora borealis. Our Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure offers you THREE different ways to see the northern lights: depending upon the weather and aurora forecast we will hunt for the lights on foot at a nearby teepee, chase the lights in a modern 4×4 van, or ride on a cozy sleigh which is pulled behind a snowmobile to one of our wilderness camps. This evening under the stars offers you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the culture & natural history of Lapland and gives you a chance to experience beauty that can only be found in Abisko National Park. Small groups of 8 guests guarantee a very personal and genuine experience and ensure a safe and comfortable trip into the Arctic environment.

5.00We booked the Private Aurora Escape to celebrate my milestone birthday. We were mainly looking forward to the experience of seeing and taking photographs of the Aurora Borealis, but the entire trip turned out to be the most amazing adventure, including beautiful hikes, spectacular aurora shows and more. A lot of credit goes to our amazing guide Sara B. who made our trip unique and unforgettable. Combining her knowledge of the area (including its nature and wildlife) and skill in identifying best opportunities for daytime hikes (including best opportunities for good photography) and aurora viewing, she made excellent recommendations and made sure we were able to get the maximum out of the time available to us. We couldn’t have asked for a better and nicer guide. Also, for each event, we were provided with just the right gear for the occasion (thermal overalls, traction grippers, headlamps, snowshoes, camera and tripod, ...). In terms of accommodation, the house we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, with a well equiped kitchen and a nice variety of local food to prepare for all our meals.

5.00I booked the Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure with Lights over Lapland and the team was super great, start to beginning. While booking I had some queries and the team was very quick to respond and put me at ease. We had a fabulous guide, Marco. He made sure that that we spot some fabulous auroras. Although the kp index that night was high, weather conditions were not favorable. But Marco with his extensive knowledge knew just the spots. He kept checking on us, lit a fire to keep us warm and kept giving us photography tips. Everything was great however I still want to share two feedback that could help create an even better experience: 1. Would be great if the team could already mail camera basics (buttons, settings) to guests. Some of us were complete beginers and had no idea about shutter speed. So we kept going click, click when we should have given the camera 30secs to process. 2. The experience included snowmobile, however due to weather conditions we could do that (which is completely fair and understandable). If that could be shared with guests on that day, it would help manage expectations.

5.00This was the most best and memorable trip I ever had in my life. The guide and the photographer was too good and experienced. She took some of the best photos and showed us the spectacular northern lights. Happy to book the Aurora chase with them. The guide Joey Tristan was awesome. She is the best. Thank you.

5.00Last night's Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure, led by Matteo, was stellar in all senses. The aurora was on full display, and Matteo made sure all conditions were ready to capture the moment. Firstly, we were in the right place at the right time, and that was thanks to Matteo and communications with other guides. We also got clear instructions on how to handle the tripod, great guidance on camera settings etc., and I appreciated the calm and methodical approach to getting set up as well as technical adjustments as the night's aurora conditions changed. Highly recommended.

5.00Gavin was our guide on February 24 for the Aurora Adventure tour, and we really enjoyed this evening activity. He was very professional, had organized the tour extremely well, and shared many interesting facts about the Northern Lights. We were very lucky with the weather that evening and were able to see the Northern Lights quite quickly. Gavin had chosen a great location where everyone could clearly see and photograph them. It was a very cold night, with temperatures around −23°C. He had also arranged a heated tent where we could warm up while taking photos. In addition, he made some delicious tea for us, which was very welcome in the cold. On the way back it became a bit exciting because there were moose on the road, but Gavin safely guided us back to the bus. We were very happy to have Gavin as our guide.

5.00We had the best time on the ultimate aurora photo adventure! Our guide, Marco was awesome. He’s super friendly, fun, easy to chat with, and so knowledgable about all the important things to hunt down the best aurora viewing spot for us. Honestly wish we could have hung out longer! We got lucky and saw amazing auroras and know we’ll get lots of cool shots from the camera that we couldn’t have taken from our phones alone. Highly recommend!

5.00Matteo was our guide for the night helping us to find and photograph aurora. Marco and Matteo both explained the camera equipment and then Matteo drove 5 of us 10 minutes or so to his first location where there was a chance to see aurora. After helping everybody set up either our own or the loaned camera gear we were lucky enough to see aurora activity fairly quickly althiugh relatively faint. After a couple of hours the clouds stopped further photo opportunities but we all sat round a lovely warm stove in a yurt with hot juice. Very enjoyable experience and Matteo provided lots of local information and photographic advice and even phoned later to update us about new aurora activity with spectacular aurora back in Abisko at midnight! Very professionally run activity.

5.00The Norse Gods smiled on us and gave us a fabulous 7 ⭐️ trip. Aurora danced for us on our first night out and we saw her on the 2 preceding nights. The whole team at Lights Over Lapland are superb. Romy, Gavin and Mateo each brought great depth of knowledge, skill and enthusiasm. We learnt so much from each of them - they each brought their personal passion for the Lights, the landscape and the local culture to life for us in their own different ways. It was a pleasure to spend time with them regardless of whether Aurora joined us (or not!). The late night was cookies, tea and fires were delightful. We’d also like to mention Charlie the bus driver; a great asset and super valuable member of the team who brought much knowledge and good humour. We felt extremely safe in his hands driving for several hours on ice and snow. We also got to meet the lovely Jeanette who had made all the administrative aspects of booking super easy The hotel was as super; very amenable and helpful staff and super food. Amazing views over the frozen lake and mountains. We had one very lazy day watching the sun change the colours on the snow covered mountains as the day gently passed. It was a stunningly clear day which was akin to being on an airplane above the cloud line, bright and beautiful, All the very best to everyone for this and all seasons to come. It truly was as a wonderful trip - full of wonder. Many many thanks 🙏 Jane & Alex 💛

5.00We booked a private 4 days holidays package. It's our second time with this package as we had a really good time previously. It was great again, we saw amazing dancing Northern lights and our guide Sara went above and beyond to make the stay very comfortable. Sara was also extremely knowledgeable about the Sami culture, photography, the local Fauna and the Northern lights. She took very nice, professional level pictures of us during the trip. We definitely recommend!

5.00For us it was the first time in Sweden. This experience is really amazing. Going out in the evening with a trained guide (who is also a photographer) is priceless. Nice group, Matteo explained how to use the room and explained how to prepare the equipment, we had a lot of fun, to be repeated certainly even more nights, Stefania is Tullio
