Shihding Ciandao Lake
Your tour starts with a visit to Thousand Island Lake, which is located in the south of Shiding District, New Taipei City. The catchment area of Feitsui Reservoir surrounded by hills creates the unique scenery—a lake with thousands of islands, which shares the same name with the “Qiandao Lake” (literally thousand island lake) in China due to the resemblance between the two.
Bagua Tea Garden
The natural terrain and climate make the surrounding area of Feitsui Reservoir an ideal farmland for tea-growing, including Wenshan Baozhong tea and Dong Fang Mei Ren tea. Bagua Tea Plantation is located in this area, too. From the top of the hill, the neatly planted rows of tea look just like the symbols of Eight Trigrams, hence the name. You will make a stop here and enjoy the stunning views of the endless rows of tea plants amidst the rolling hills around you.

Great little half day tour. Christina the tour guide is very friendly and knowledgeable about the tea plantations in the area. Took 1 year old on the tour and everyone was very accomodating. Recommend if you want a break from planning your own transport!

Nice way to spend some free time in Taipei. Good opportunity to see scenery and landscapes outside urban Taipei. Would've enjoyed seeing how tea is harvested, processed, made (surprised the museum didn't have a simple film showing this) rather than just verbal descriptions. The museum had interesting exhibits of old machines, samples of tea leaves, and lots of tea paraphernalia, but signage was predominantly in Chinese. Enjoyed the tea ceremony in Pingling. Recommended with qualifications. Don't expect a deep dive.

The tour guide comes on time and is very informative. She also speaks good English. We did exactly what the itinerary showed. We have a mix of Western and Asian guests, and we got splitted up in the buses and during tea tasting accordingly. The tour guide mostly put herself with the Western group, which I understood that they need more of the translating service. I don't speak any Mandarin, as well as some Korean guests in my group, so most of the time we relied on the Mandarin speaking guest. The tour seemed to be a bit rushed. But otherwise, the destination is beautiful and good tea tasting experience.
