Pinglin District in New Taipei City is the home to Wenshan Baozhong tea, where you will visit the tea museum to explore the world of Taiwanese tea, and taste the aromatic Taiwanese tea at a tea shop. Shihding Ciandao Lake

Your tour starts with a visit to Thousand Island Lake, which is located in the south of Shiding District, New Taipei City. The catchment area of Feitsui Reservoir surrounded by hills creates the unique scenery—a lake with thousands of islands, which shares the same name with the “Qiandao Lake” (literally thousand island lake) in China due to the resemblance between the two.

Bagua Tea Garden

The natural terrain and climate make the surrounding area of Feitsui Reservoir an ideal farmland for tea-growing, including Wenshan Baozhong tea and Dong Fang Mei Ren tea. Bagua Tea Plantation is located in this area, too. From the top of the hill, the neatly planted rows of tea look just like the symbols of Eight Trigrams, hence the name. You will make a stop here and enjoy the stunning views of the endless rows of tea plants amidst the rolling hills around you.

Grace our tour guide was was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The tour itself was very enjoyable and we loved sampling the different types of tea. Would definitely recommend.

Trip was cancelled by the provider due to weather. Really disappointed - especially since I’d had the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine specifically to protect myself on this particular day trip. Yes, tea. I had a vaccination 6 weeks ago so I would be protected on this excursion. And I’ve since been told that the bad weather didn’t happen.

Walter, also known as Mr. Luo, was our guide. He was fluent in both English and Japanese and had extensive knowledge of tea. The group of 20 participants was divided into two smaller groups, with Walter leading the 10 of us. We traveled to the tea fields in two small vans. Despite the light rain in the mountains, we enjoyed touring the beautiful tea fields. Afterward, we learned how to brew and taste Taiwanese tea at the plantation. It was fascinating to see how it differs from Japanese tea. Additionally, we had the opportunity to purchase some tea souvenirs at a bargain price from the tea plantation. The tea snacks displayed at the tea museum were also intriguing.

This was a six hour tour that dragged on for far too long. The minibus ride was uncomfortable and the driving didn’t feel safe. There was some nice views along the way but it was supposed to be a Tea Tour. The tea tasting was nice but we didn’t like the hard selling at the end of it. Half way through we just wanted to go home but we were miles from anywhere.

The tour group was just the right size with 4 people plus the tour leader and driver. The meet up location was easy to find, however, the team leader was not wearing an Edison vest so was a little worrying since there was another tour group at the same location. The information given in the ride to the river area and tea plantation was the same information available on placards at the tea museum. The tea tasting was interesting with the process being explained well. Overall, would recommend the tour if you want a half day tour not too far outside of the city.

Great little half day tour. Christina the tour guide is very friendly and knowledgeable about the tea plantations in the area. Took 1 year old on the tour and everyone was very accomodating. Recommend if you want a break from planning your own transport!
