  We could have done the hike ourselfs, the guide pished us to go faster and told us little tiny bit about the plants and animals. But we thaught it really wasn't worth the money.

  Juan was an amazing guide- highly recommend. Beautiful hike to the top with stunning views of the lake. It was challenging but so worth it!

  Our guide Juan was very nice. If you are experienced hikers, this hike can absolutely be done without a guide, though and save a ton of money. If you like having someone tell you the distances and encourage you to continue, then you may need a guide. Even in my late 40s, I still consider myself relatively in shape and our 3 kids are athletic (ages 9,1 2, 14), and this was an intense hike that is 95% uphill and a climb! We were all sore for the next 2 days. The view is incredible, though! I thought it was worth it. Here's some arrival and departure guidance that I wish I had been provided: 1) You will arrive at the dock and be picked up by a tuk-tuk that isn't your guide. 2) That tuk-tuk will take you halfway and you will meet your guide. 3) Then you will take another tuk-tuk to the base of the volcano. After the hike. 1) You will take another tuk-tuk to the halfway point. Your guide will leave at this point. 2) You are on your own to get back to the town (this last leg of the transport isn't included in your price, so bring some cash for another tuk-tuk down the hill, unless you'd like to walk (20-25 min), but you will be so tired from the 5-hour hike that you will pay any amount to get a ride.....

  This was a difficult but fun hike! Juan was a fantastic pacer for two athletic people that were being challenged by the quick altitude gain. When we needed a break he was able to tell us about the native trees, show us what local birds to keep an eye out for and about San Pedro. Definitely wear comfortable hiking boots, bring plenty of water and eat a hardy breakfast before. We really enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend to friends!

  Communication with the tour operator could have been better, but the guide (Juan) was brilliant and it was an unmissable experience!

  Excellent experience. Our tour guide Juan was exceptional. His knowledge of the volcano and flora and fauna along the hike was amazing. He was great about adjusting the pace to meet our hiking style and ability. The volcano itself is incredible and the views from the top are spectacular. Highly recommended!

  Challenging hike! Entire trail was entirely uphill. Almost saw a skunk. Mostly covered and shaded until the last few stretches. Decent fitness required for sure! Guide Juan was fantastic, informative of surrounding plants and animals. Would recommend him.

  Really enjoyed talking with our guide, Lorenzo. Peaceful hike. It drizzled for a few minutes but we didn't get wet under the canopy and it cleared up and made for fantastic views. So beautiful! And the swing was fun too 😆
