Tamchog lhakhang is temple that is dedicated to the 13th century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the bridge builder. This temple is located across the river from the Paro to Thimphu. In order to get to the temple one must cross an iron chain bridge, one of the few remaining of the many that Thangthong Gyalpo built. This is a private temple however tourists are allowed to visit if they are given permission. Crossing this very old bridge with its swaying and undulating movements can be quite an experience. The temple's location on the ridge and the high rocky barren hills which serve as it's backdrop makes this a good location to take pictures.
Paro River
The Bhutanese word for river is "chhu," so the Paro Chhu is translated to the Paro River. The Paro Chhu starts on the South side of the 24,035 ft Mount Jomolhari flowing through mountain meadows and deep gorges before entering the Paro Valley and meandering through the town of Paro. Just downstream of Paro is a fun Class III+ section of whitewater with one portage.
Clock Tower Square
Clock Tower Square has a tower with four clock faces located in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan. It is a famously known landmark in Thimphu. There are many shops, hotels and restaurants surrounding the square.

Buddha Dordenma
The Buddha Dordenma is located atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park and overlooks the Southern entrance to Thimphu Valley. The statue fulfils an ancient prophecy dating back to the 8th century A.D that was discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa (Religious Treasure Discoverer) and is said to emanate an aura of peace and happiness to the entire world.
Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten)
The National Memorial Chorten was built in memory of Third Druk Gyalpo and is dedicated to World Peace. The chorten is a large white structure crowned with a golden spire.
Changlimithang Stadium & Archery Ground
Bhutanese love playing this sport with full vigour, enthusiasm and celebrations. The way Archery tournaments are played in Bhutan is quite different. Players would be in their national dress, make a lot of euphoric sounds, even hoot opposition for missing targets and when target is hit, they do a slow dance to celebrate the hit.
Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong)
Tashichho Dzong has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government departments are housed in buildings nearby.

Paro Taktsang
Taktsang Lhakhang is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This temple is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom and clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. It was first built in 1692 at a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated in the 7th century A.D. Legend states that Guru Rimpoche flew to the site atop the back of a tigress and meditated in the cave for 3 years, 3 months, 3 days and 3 hours in order to subdue evil demons residing within it. The cave has been considered a sacred site ever since and many famous saints have travelled to meditate in it. Taktsang Lhakhang is located approximately 10 km north of Paro town at an altitude of 3.120 m. In order to arrive at the temple visitors must trek for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable heritage site.

My trip to Bhutan was one of the most enriching travel experiences I have had and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide Tshering Wangyal and our skilled driver Dema. The driver’s calm and safe driving made the journey so comfortable. Guide Tshering Wangyal impressed me from the start with his deep knowledge of Bhutan history, culture, religion, and everyday life. His storytelling made every temple, monastery come alive. He was patient and attentive, always ready to answer my endless questions with enthusiasm and a smile.

Visiting a bhutan felt like stepping into another world of peace and happiness. Bhutan is not a place , it is an experience where time slows down, montains whispers, river glistens under the sky, flags flutters along the road, monastery soothes the soal. Bhutan's greatest treasure is its people, theirs calmness, kindness and smiles fills your heart with gratitude. I respect the culture here and their care for the environment. We had a very supporting and caring guide during trip named Tshering. Who was very gentle and good narrative. we had a really great time together here. Bhutan is a country which teaches the world that " True health lies not in possession but in peace" Kadrin Chey la.

We took a short 6 day break to Bhutan from Chennai and we have fallen in love with the place & people. A soothing & relaxing n trip which we were looking forward for. Our guide Prema Dodji & driver were very good. They ensured we were always comfortable through our trip and showed us the places well as per our itinerary. Prema has gone an extra mile for us to experience the best of Bhutan and accommodated all our requests as a guide. Will surely recommend the travels.

Over our 8 day cultural tour, we visited several temples, fortresses, and natural sites. Bhutan's natural beauty is matched by the audacity and refinement of its architecture, with fortresses at river confluences and monasteries built into cliff faces. It's clean, and the people are friendly. Yet, because of the relative unfamiliarity most visitors will have with Bhutanese history and Vajrayana Buddhism, a knowledgeable guide is indispensable. The mountain terrain also means that the roads can be vertiginous. Make sure that you have a skilful driver--and if you are prone to motion sickness, Dramamine Our guide and driver from Matreiya Tusita Travel were professional and genuinely kind, stopping to pick up altitude sickness medicine, patiently encouraging us through the most difficult part of the hike up to Taktsang Lakhang, and sharing jokes and betelnut. Our guide, Phuntso, who is a graduate in history and Buddhist studies, explained the intricacies of Vajrayana Buddhist iconography, but also discussed social changes and challenges facing Bhutan The guides are responsive to visitors questions and interests. That said, you should know that for the guides to do their best work, you need to ask--maybe you have seen so many temples that your mind is numb. Don't be afraid to ask how you might change up the itinerary. For example, one of has interests in calligraphy. Phuntso arranged for a calligraphy lesson. Also, be aware that even staying at nice hotels, Bhutan is a developing country in which power outages occur. Have a sense of humor and patience Overall, we had a wonderful time and learned much. I'd visit again with Matreiya Tusita Travel (with Phuntso and Norbu) again if I have the chance

My mother and I had a beautiful vacation in Bhutan last week. Not only is the country lush with greenery and clean, but our guide Mr Tshering Wangdi and our driver, Kelsang were the nicest people I could have asked for to guide us through the history and cultural centres of Bhutan. Given that my mother is a senior citizen, they also took special care to ensure that my mother was never in discomfort paying attention to her needs and always providing a helping hand with the steps we needed to climb up or down from. Tshering literally took care of every thing on our bucket list and then some! The trip was curated perfectly and Tshering’s introduction to Bhutan only makes me want to go back to this beautiful country that ensures no one returns unhappy. Thank you Tshering and Kelsang for everything! 🙏🏻☺️

Bhutan is a magical place and a great place for a family holiday with amazing cultural experiences and natural beauty to satisfy everyone. The most impressive part is the hard work put in by the guides, drivers to cater to needs and wishes of all the hordes of noisy tourists We were really lucky to have an outstanding guide Tshering Wangdi and great driver- Kinga. Tshering was so careful and thoughtful in his insights and patiently guided us through an entire week in Bhutan and it was a great experience. Full marks to Tshering and his agency for the great work. Highly recommend him.
