This was on my bucket list or do, unfortunately there was no English specking guide, I fell I lost out on hearing some great information about his Heritage site. Everything else I really enjoyed and would return.

We attended this tour with a group of 14. We were all treated courteously by the well informed guides.

Fascinating site and history. The boat trip over was not great - we were forced to sit facing a toilet door with no real view to the ocean/outside, and that bothered me in particular. You are also herded around the 3 viewing sites and the tour was given only in Japanese. Despite the negatives, my family enjoyed the experience of visiting Battleship island and we appreciated one of the tour team who used his phone to translate some interesting information into English for us.

The museum was great. Very well done great experience and great insights into the history and background of the island. The boat trip would have been great if we spoke Japanese. It was not very foreigner friendly, we got a book (20 pages of text) with information which was not very customer friendly. One need to read while looking up / around. It was interesting to see the island in reality. A tour guide explained everything during the boat ride and on the island (in Japanese) In the end we could ask questions in English to one crew member (Mark) who was very helpful. I wished the tour would be considerate about foreigners so that they also can listen and watch.

Digital museum was fascinating- although we were not fully aware of this element beforehand. That needs an hour before the boat leaves. Be clear no one speaks English and you get a folder with info in. So we missed out with explanations. Why not have an audio guide? It was quite rough but we docked and the island was fascinating.
