The sea felt a bit rough, but anyway we were able to land on the island! It was certainly a great daytrip and I would recommend it to anybody interested in combining a boat trip with the eerie island!

Great site to visit, however choose a different provider as they did not provide what they promised, and English speaking guide.

It’s an interesting place to see but some challenges with the boat service. First when You arrive you find there’s a priority service that Tripadvisor doesn’t mention, this gives you first boarding and much nicer spot on the boat and ability to roam around on deck.. The regular seats are in order of booking, so even if you arrive early on the day you have to wait by the number on your ticket to board then obviously you get the worst seats scattered around for the hour you it takes to reach the island. We were right near the back of the queue The guide is only in Japanese on a quite harsh PA system that makes it very difficult to hear the headphone based English guide that costs 1000yen extra. So if you want to know stuff, look into it at the included museum before the trip Weather dictates whether you can land on the island. There are only 2 areas of shade and no fans etc. Boat has air con and for the return journey if you pile on first you can get some nicer seats in the main cabin

Interesting tour of the museum and on the boat, the guides were very kind. We would have liked to spend a little more time on the island

Informed at the last minute that we couldn’t land. Japanese tour guide which was fine but the English audio was good enough. Was out of sync with the visual screen. Actual cruise was good- clear skies and good view of the island

Felt surreal setting foot on the island. This island has generated much controversy and we would like to undertake more. the visit to Gungajima Digital Museum is a must before the actual trip. the museum provides much info as well as narratives from the island residents. though it was raining, we still managed to land and set foot. unfortunately all instructions and guides are in Japanese which is not internationally friendly. overall a great historical experience.

This was on my bucket list or do, unfortunately there was no English specking guide, I fell I lost out on hearing some great information about his Heritage site. Everything else I really enjoyed and would return.

Fascinating site and history. The boat trip over was not great - we were forced to sit facing a toilet door with no real view to the ocean/outside, and that bothered me in particular. You are also herded around the 3 viewing sites and the tour was given only in Japanese. Despite the negatives, my family enjoyed the experience of visiting Battleship island and we appreciated one of the tour team who used his phone to translate some interesting information into English for us.
