Firstly and in fairness - we did see whales. Two fin whales swimming together and they were beautiful to watch. However, the trip itself was very disappointing. Firstly, we booked for collection in Galle and heard nothing and, so I chased. They eventually responded to say that their profile makes it clear that they only collect in a 5km radius of Marissa - which is not correct. Their profile says there is no charge if within 5km but they will collect outside for an additional fee (which we were happy to pay). We ended up scrabbling around to get a tuktuk for 5am that could take us there on time. b. the weather was awful (not their fault!) but it was chaos in the marine area. We followed the pin on google maps to where we were meant to collect our reservation but no one was there and it turned out they were on the boat. c. The boat was very busy and we all sat there for nearly 1 hour before it finally left with no announcements. The various pictures show people with life jackets but no idea what happened there as we did not have any! d. there was no tannoy and so the poor guide had to keep going up and down the boat so people could hear him. When we could hear (which was limited) he clearly knew his stuff and so it would have been nice to have been able to listen to more information. e. Wet and cold - the coffee and tea promised would have been nice but no sign. The sandwiches in fairness were ok and they catered for vegetarians which was very welcome. f. Having spotted the Fin whales we simply turned back and went home even though we had only been out for about 90 mins. First time I have ever known a whale trip just not continue to see what else can be spotted. Again, our driver (who waited for us) said we were "lucky" to find them and get back early so this is clearly fairly standard in Sri Lanka but to me - I wanted to try and see if we could see more and would have preferred to stay out but the option was not there. So the positives - we did see two whales, food was ok and staff were knowledgable but the rest was chaotic and certainly not the "luxury super grade" that the term implies.

This tour is a scam. We had a 2h boat ride while they advertised for approx 4h. I was told it is because it’s included pick up , drop off and time waiting for nothing at the harbor. On that day we were the only boat to go back. Don’t give your money to them .

They were no whales to be seen at all, just a few dolphin. Ship has too many chairs. Pretty expensive for an ordinary ferry ride with breakfast.

The boat ride was ok. But they were no whales to be seen at all. It seems the organisers are aware of it so they shouldn’t conduct tours at times when whales can’t be spotted. Pretty expensive for an ordinary ferry ride

We sighted 2-3 blue whales after some searching in the sea. My boys were super excited. The tour was planned and managed very professionally from pickup to drop. They also served descent breakfast with sandwich and various fruits. Highly recommended!
