  The concept of this tour is a good idea but I would agree with some of the other reviews of this tour. We were surprised to learn we had an hour of free time after the open top bus tour of Zurich and before getting on the bus for the other activities. This time was a waste. I am not sure why the tour started so late in the day - it should start much earlier so we could get more time in each spot. The distance to Appenzeller is very long - 1.5 hours on the bus. By the time we got to the cheese factory, there was no active production happening so we got to try some cheese, see the clean equipment and cheese stacks, and go to the store. If we were there earlier we would be able to see the production. Same thing with the chocolate factory although making chocolate was cool - it would be nice to know in advance if we wouldn’t see any production. By the time we got to the town of Appenzaller, it was dark and all the shops were closed - we were told we could get something to eat but there wasn’t much open and we were only given 45 minutes so not enough time. It’s too bad as the town looks like it was very cute. It was nice to see it lit up with Christmas lights but that’s about it. Our bus driver was just that - he was good and kept us all organized but he was not a tour guide. For the price of this tour, I wouldn’t recommend it.

  It was an afternoon tour which wasn't good timing. The Chocolate & Cheese Factories weren't worth the trip especially on a weekend because they weren't working. Very commercialized tourist attractions & have gift shops that hope you spend more money. When we finally got to Appenzel to spend an hour there it was 5.30pm, already dark & no shops were open. We couldn't even see the beautiful building facades because it was dark. So a real waste of time. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone especially for the price we paid it wasn't worth it. We only had a company bus driver who wasn't even a tour guide so didn't give us much information about any of the tour.

  Overall great tour! Would have liked to have it begin earlier (perhaps 9:00 am). Was disappointed that by the time we got to the cheese factory it had finished its production for the day. Scenery beautiful. Chocolate factory self guided tour was interesting.

  First part of the tour, the Zürich city tour was nice. Then we went on the Apen cellcheese and chocolate tour which did not leave the bus station until 13:30. By the time we got to the cheese factory they had shut down production, so we basically got to go to the store. When we got to Appenzell, it was totally dark and cold and a lot of the places were closed. Not sure why the tour starts so late in the day to take you to places that are closed.

  There were no “memorable” parts of this trip for me because I was definitely scammed out of my money. Just BEWARE that this specific excursion is cut into 2 parts with an hour break at the bus stop pick up. I was not aware of this prior to booking this excursion. As I went somewhere to keep warm for the hour because it was freezing and it isn’t ideal to wait outside in the cold for an hour . I came back 10 minutes past pick up time and they had left me , refused to come back nor give me a refund or compensation. I will never book with them again and neither should you.
