  Travelling here is an experience for anyone that anyone can hope for. As would bilbo. Resting at home, wondering what an adventure would be. Running out of the shire with the contract in hand with the reoccurring thought. “What if, I do participate in this endeavour”. I advise you to try. Go experience this. Enjoy the magic that is New Zealand and hobbiton. You will look back on this adventure and won’t regret.

  This tour was excellent. Our guide, Rob, was very funny and knowledgable about Hobbiton and the making of it all. Would highly recommend this to anyone, regardless of your level of interest in the Hobbit/LOTR, but as a fan, it was incredible to see this in person, and it felt like I was in the books and movies themselves. There was plenty of time to take in the views and take pictures, and we had lots of time to explore inside one of the Hobbit holes. At the end, a complimentary drink at the Green Dragon is provided.

  I have read the books but am definitely not a super fan so it was with a bit of trepidation I decided to visit Hobbiton. I need not have worried, it was lovely. Despite tour parties leaving the visitor centre every 10 minutes it all felt incredibly peaceful. The weather had been foggy and raining when I set out but magically the sun was shining over the Shire (it started again as I left!). So much work goes into making this a great experience, and I did the basic tour but it still lasted nearly 2 ½ hours, finishing in the hobbit’s Inn for a free drink. There are about 44 little hobbit houses as well as the Inn and a working water mill. You can actually go into one of them and you are encouraged to sit on the furniture and handle some of the props. I had a lovely time and would recommend this to anyone even if you are not a Tolkein fan!

  Well worth the visit. Excellent attention to detail in the exhibits. Our guide was excellent, providing plenty of interesting information around the site and the films.

  It is a well paced experience, and beautifully laid out. Our Hobbit guide, Sam, was simply fantastic, with a treasure trove of knowledge. My wife has never read the books nor seen the movies, but also enjoyed it immensely and would go back. Will have to watch all the movies again.

  Beautiful experience like as if you are in the movies. Value for money. Guide was superbly informative and tons of beautiful pictures to take. When I watch the movies again, it will never be the same now.

  It’s fantasy world that you can explore behind the scenes. In just a little garden there is a green dragon with drinks non alcoholic and alcoholic and guides tell you about a lot of hobbity stories

  From the booking to the actual tour everything is smooth, lovely & the staff are nice. Definitely going back again
