• Two of two (different) kayaking tours from the same provider. Both highly enjoyable.

  We had some good sightings, including a Hector dolphin. We also got to poke in the mouth of a sea cave or two, and pass by the "Cathedral cave" -- an impressive natural formation. Our guide Max was energetic, engaging, and highly competent. We made good but safe time on water, seeing quite a bit.

  A great sea kayak trip, we saw lots of wildlife including Hector's Dolphins, penguins and a variety of birds. Alex was a terrific guide, well informed about not only the wildlife but also the history and geology of the area. We were well loked after and felt very safe on the water.

  We arrived late at the campground and were lucky to see a flyer for the kayak activity starting at 7:30 Am. What a great adventure! Our Guide Alex met us on time and gave us a complete briefing on how to operate the kayak… it’s been a while😂 and we set off. Water was calm and Alex took the time to give us information on the history of Akaroa, the Maori people that were here before us. The history of the volcanic activity and of course the wildlife. I was surprised I was just going kayaking but it was very informative as well. I recommend this activity, and Alex was an exceptional guide.

  It was good to be on the water, and we really enjoyed the tour. Memories of all those Shag taking flight over the water ( no pics) and we'd have missed the seal. Great to be out on the swell of the Southern Ocean ( South of the South Pacific Ocean). Hoped for sunshine but it didn't matter.

  Great friendly guide, learnt lots of stuff about birds, what lives under the water, akaroa, (the guide seems so knowledgeable!) Just felt that there wasn’t a lot of instructions in terms of how to use the kayak, and we were kayaking a bit slower than the rest (even though I was non stop paddling basically!) and the guides/other person didn’t wait for us so we felt quite pressured to paddle really hard to keep up.

  I had a wonderful sunrise kayak trip and Max was a great tour leader! We saw many seals, shags, oyster catchers, and a couple of paradise ducks. We also spotted a big jellyfish and a Hector dolphin near the end. The cave and navigable channel were also fun kayaking adventures. Thank you for a great trip!

  Excellent kayaking trip. Thank you Peter for an enjoyable morning paddle with lots of interesting facts and luckily some dolphin sightings which was fab. As a kayaker I was thrilled you have left handed paddles - something many other companies tell me don’t exist!!

  My parents, my sister, and I did the sunrise kayaking tour in mid Feb. First off, the experience of kayaking in the bay was amazing. We saw several different species of birds, and the Hector dolphins. Our tour guide, Peter from the UK, seemed knowledgeable about the nature and history of the area and shared a lot of interesting information with us. However, our tour guide also made the tour a bit unpleasant for me and my sister. We are from the United States, and he seemed to think we wanted to hear all of his negative opinions about it. Interestingly, he did not speak his “inside thoughts” out loud to my parents or when they were nearby. I tried to diffuse and redirect the conversation by asking him basic questions about himself, but he kept bringing the conversation back to the US. He made multiple disparaging comments, such as saying that he wanted to visit the southern states where “all the inbred racists” are. He did say that he wants to visit the US, but he also said that the US is way too big and should not be such a large country, therefore he was hoping for “Civil War 2.0”. That was a tragic time with major loss of life - not a funny joke. He also said that whenever he feels down about being from the UK, he tells himself that “at least I’m not from America!” While I understand that we all have our own private opinions on different countries, I found it extremely unprofessional for him to be making these comments to his foreign clients. My sister and I left the tour with a bad taste in our mouths, though initially we were quite excited to be there.
