I have been to St Barts the Great (and what an incredible church that is!), and know of the Blackfriars – the bridge and the pub, but had no idea that London was effectively monastery land up to the 16th century. Some monasteries, like St Barts, have ancient buildings still in use and a huge modern hospital on the original site, others have left clues behind on the landscape, and have profoundly influenced the development of London. Ian paints vivid and engaging stories about the sites on the tour with quirky good humour.

A wonderfully informative and entertaining tour of some of the former monasteries of London. Lots of historical context. And taking in some hidden gems that I (as a Londoner) didn’t know existed. Highly recommended!

My wife and I really enjoyed Ian's London Monastery tour. Ian was engaging and informative, telling a fascinating story covering the rich history of this part of London. Ian told a compelling story whilst showing us some hidden secrets amongst the bustling city which you'd just pass by. Highly recommended.
