State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky
The Regional History and Aral Sea Museum
Ships Cemetery
Mizdakhan Necropolis

This was such a well-run, and just breathtaking tour. As someone who lives in Kazakhstan, but originally from the UK, I was really hoping to visit Western Uzbekistan whilst living in Central Asia, and this tour did not disappoint. From Olimjon visiting us the night before to go through the itinerary with us again, to getting to swim in the Aral Sea, play dress up with the yurt camp owners and see wild camels, the tour was unlike anything I had experienced before, both in terms of organisation and being checked in with and the once in a life time experiences we got to be a part of. If you're thinking about visiting the lesser-seen parts of Western Uzbekistan I would REALLY recommend this tour!!

My friends and I had a wonderful experience on our 2-day trip to the Aral Sea. Olimjon was so helpful and checked in on us throughout the trip. Our drivers were lovely and taught us so much about the history and the culture of the region. It was a truly unique and breathtaking experience to get to see the Aral Sea and the surrounding area. It's a trip I'll always remember and feel so grateful to Oxus Travel and Olimjon for having organized it!

As four girls currently living in Kazakhstan for six months and trying to make the most of our experience this has been the best thing we’ve done. A once in a lifetime experience to see so many things. Olimjon, the tour director, was so kind and caring calling us and texting us throughout the trip to make sure that we were comfortable, safe and everything was okay. We met with him the night before where we were treated to a meal and brief of the tour. We got to see incredible sites away from the popular tourist attractions driving through the desert and seeing things that we wouldn’t have been able to do at all otherwise, tortoises, wild camels and eagles to name a few. swimming in the Aral Sea watching the sunset and the sunrise as well as stargazing. The yurt camp that we stayed in was comfortable the best night we’ve had in Uzbekistan with comfortable facilities and amazing traditional dinner set up, music and beautiful cats! Could not recommend enough! Thank you to everyone on the trip!

We did a 2-day Aral Sea trip with friends in a private car, and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences in Uzbekistan. The landscapes were absolutely surreal - from the ship cemetery in Moynaq to the endless desert and the beautiful sunset near the Aral Sea. The road was long but comfortable, and having a private car made the trip much more flexible and enjoyable. Our driver was friendly and experienced, and we had plenty of stops for photos along the way. Sleeping in the yurt camp under the stars was definitely a highlight. Highly recommend this trip for anyone who enjoys nature, adventure, and unique places with an incredible history.

Our expedition to the Aral Sea, organized by Oxus Travel under the expert leadership of Olimjon Saidmamatov, was a life-changing encounter with history, nature, and ourselves. The first part of our journey was intellectually enriching. Our driver, Sarvar, was a true professional—punctual, reliable, and ensuring our comfort throughout. Chilpyk Tower: Standing atop this 2,000-year-old Zoroastrian 'Tower of Silence,' we gazed over the Amu Darya valley, feeling the profound stillness of ancient life.Savitsky Museum in Nukus: This 'Louvre in the Desert' is a masterpiece. The Soviet-era avant-garde collection rivals the world's best galleries in its courage and authenticity. The real adventure began in Muynak, where we switched to a heavy-duty 4x4. Crossing the former seabed and the rugged Ustyurt Plateau felt like being part of a Dakar Rally team! Our driver, Alexey, expertly maneuvered his Land Cruiser through otherworldly landscapes reminiscent of Interstellar. The vast silence and sheer cliffs evoke a sense of timelessness, reminding us that we are merely humble observers of nature’s immense power. The Aral Sea finally met us with its quiet, tragic beauty. Watching the waves gently hit the shore, smelling the salt, we couldn't help but feel the weight of its lost majesty. It is a sobering reminder of the 'boomerang effect' of human actions—a place that demands reflection and respect. Nightfall brought us to the Yurt Camp. We expected Spartan conditions but were met with incredible hospitality. Despite being far from civilization, our hosts provided a delicious dinner with aromatic plov and warm tea. The guides, fluent in English, catered to every guest's needs. The yurts were surprisingly comfortable, equipped with electricity to charge our devices. Sleeping under the brilliant constellations of the Northern Hemisphere was a mystical experience that washed away all the day's exhaustion. While the showers only had cold water, it only added to the authentic 'nomad' vibe of the camp! We left with heavy hearts but inspired souls. If you want a professional, safe, and deeply moving expedition into the heart of Karakalpakstan, Oxus Travel is your only choice. Thank you, Olimjon, for this unforgettable bridge between the past and the future! Best regards, Nadezhda from Russia, Ana from Slovenia, and Laura from Spain.

Super fun adventure trip in western uzbek. The drives are long but the experience is extremely unique and you get to see a lot of the country. Very professional and well organised. Just a warning that the driving in the Aral Sea can be very rough/bumpy if that is an issue. Would recommend for the adventurous and curious souls.

We had a fantastic trip. The tour was well-organized and packed with information. We couldn't complete the last stretch to the lake due to bad weather. Safety was priority. It was the right decision at the right time. We highly recommend this tour.

We chose this tour from Italy and were satisfied. Olijmon was very courteous especially on our arrival, picked us up at the airport late at night and took us to his home to rest two hours. The drivers were attentive and prepared. An excellent organization, the council

The Aral Sea is the best example of sad beauty. We had the impression throughout the entire journey to be on another planet, stunning and unique views during the whole trip! It may be scary to do the trip during winter, but the experience with the snow deserves the cold. Regarding the trip, both drivers have been very caring and helpful. I can’t write in words how happy we have been with the driving and the two of them. We ate in very local restaurants (no English menus, but the tastiness makes up for it, and my girlfriend as a vegetarian had no problems to communicate). We were always on time, always felt safe and were cared for. The only inconvenience was that our yurts didn’t close properly so we ended waking up to close it during a sandstorm, but we managed to close it.
