4.00The tour guide and the bus driver were great, and the best part of the experience. The tour itself was not worth the time as it took more than two and a half hours to arrive to the first destination. The visit to the farm was beautiful, but I think we would have much rather had time for more tastings, especially considering the time it took to drive. The boat ride immediately after was nice and refreshing, but it seemed a little ad hoc. A glass of wine or refreshment might have been nice. The worst part of my experience with Viator has nothing to do with this tour, however. It was a mistake made on my part, but compounded by a lack of follow-up/communication with the company. I booked a tour almost a month ahead of time, BUT failed to receive any email notification confirming the tour. I kept searching my email and waiting, but could not find anything confirming my tour. So, the night before, in a panic, I booked another tour that same afternoon. This time, I did receive confirmation, but my husband also confirmed that we were charged for the earlier tour that I had no notifications from. I called Viator in distress. They were extremely unhelpful and said I booked the tours, so I had to pay for them both. This seems like a terrible company policy, and it caused a lot of mental anguish and distress, ruining a day of vacation with my family. I will never book anything with Viator again, and I will be disputing the double-charge.

4.00Ok, so let’s start by stating this is a Port Wine tour. Ok all port wine starts as, well, red wine, but if you go expecting to sample wine, you will be a little disappointed (except for over lunch…… :)! We expected this to be a smaller tour, but we’re picked up in a large coach, comfortable but not so personal, and meant the tour group was large. Trip over took around 90 minutes, out guide, was very knowledgeable, and gave excellent insight into port wine and the Duoro valley. First stop was from the outside uninspiring, a large industrial unit, actually a wine “co-op”, but once inside the guide for this part of tour was excellent! Gave a short intro, we sampled some nice Port wines from the winery and had a good tour of the facilities! Nice lunch at the winery, with plenty of good wine (not port) from the “house” and then a short bus journey to our next stop, a boat trip in the river. Relaxing and beautiful, a good opportunity to let lunch and the wine go down! Next stop was what we were really expecting, a trip to a supposedly private winery, but actually it’s owned by Kopke, ind of the bigger Gaia Port houses, but in a stunning elevated location. Tour of this winery was to be honest, very poor, we were then given a couple of different Ports to try, with no explanation. Disappointed, great location this could be far better. Overall a good but not great day out. Guide was fantastic, views amazing, winery tours disappointing (go to Cockburns for a far better Port tour). Remember this is about port, and perhaps had the wine is made, but not, as advertised a wine tour, Also note, the photos are from autumn when the leaves start to change colour, in June it’s all green!

5.00Igor and Moutinho were fantastic as our guide and driver. They were both incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and had a great sense of humour, which made the day even more enjoyable. The 10-hour experience was excellent value for money, and there was certainly no shortage of wine! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Porto - the Douro Valley experience with Igor and Moutinho leading the way.

5.00A good day tour, with a very good guide (Flavio). The presentations were informative and the lunch was very good. It was very hot on our tour day and the first winery did not have working fans. They also only had one ladies bathroom.

5.00My Duoro tour with Milena was really great! She was very friendly, funny and lively the whole time. She gave clear information about the organization of the tour and took care to guide us along all the way. The start of finding the guides could have been made more straightforward. Multiple tour companies with guides meet at the same point same time and I had to talk to 5 guides and ask them to check if I am in their list before I met Milena. The Duoro valley was much warmer than Porto which Milena warned us about. It would have been good to know these before the tour. But overall a very good experience and I leaned a lot.

5.00This was a fabulous day touring the Douro wine Valley. We got to visit two different wineries for our wine tasting. Lunch afterwards at the first winery was absolutely delicious. This tour also includes a boat ride on the DOURO river. Fabulous!
