  Get a good insect repellent. Guide had a lot of interesting historical knowledge and was helpful. There are some beautiful flowers, especially the orchids. It's in the next county, so pretty far but through beautiful natural protected land.

  Our guide, Jimmy, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and friendly and relaxed and sensitive to our needs. The garden is extraordinary. The restaurant and time in the river was an added bonus.

  

• We are members (3 visits cover that cost) and visit at least once a week. The jungle hikes are moderate to difficult :)

  We were a small group only three people and because of that it almost felt like a very personalized tool that was catered to our interest. The bus ride there is quite beautiful as it snakes along highway 200 south of Puerto Vallarta. The botanical gardens themselves are quite beautiful, stunning and varied in their presentation. Our guide was interesting and informative and the lunch break ( not included in price) at the restaurant was outstanding. I would recommend the half day tour though because while it is very pleasant in Puerto Vallarta in the morning hours, it gets quite hot and human later on in the day.

  We decided to take this expert-guided tour in order to learn much more than one can from the usual plant signs. Our guide, Jimmy Buck, did not disappoint. The garden is a wonderful mix of jungle plants and more recognizable flowers, with peacocks and guinea fowl thrown in, but it can be confusing without a good guide. As a gardener from Chicago, I was truly impressed by the depth of Jimmy’s knowledge of all those plants I will never be able to grow as well as his ability to field all our questions. And he gives you lots of information about the history of this region into the bargain. Truly a memorable tour! Thanks, Jimmy! And if you go, don’t pass up the restaurant - excellent food and perfect service..

  We chose what was advertised as a five-star botanical garden tour, but in reality, we ended up spending nearly 45 minutes on a public bus just to get there. Once we arrived, the guide gave us a detailed 20-minute explanation about the vanilla bean. He was definitely professional and knowledgeable, but you really needed a lot of patience to sit through it all. Honestly, it just didn’t match our expectations and felt a bit too lengthy for what we had in mind.

  Awesome experience. Jimmy was our guide and we hit the jackpot in getting him as our leader! Knowledgeable, prepared, and kind! He was well informed and accommodating. I loved the outing.

  Abraham took us through the garden and pointed out birds. Insects AND interesting plants. He particularly shared plants that were native to the region. He has a real eye for the tiny things that visitors would likely pass by. Very knowledgeable. And he would spice things you with local legends. The works class garden was amazing. Swimming in the river was an adventure and the tequila tasting was excellent. Great lunch too!
