  James is an absolute rockstar of a host! He is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and goes out of his way to accommodate everyone. You can really tell he loves what he does—it felt less like a standard tour and more like grabbing drinks with a great friend. If you're coming off a cruise ship, my biggest piece of advice is to book the earliest slot possible.   We had a wonderful experience with James today. My partner is a devout beer lover, and I usually prefer cider or cocktails; however, James was determined to find a beer that I would enjoy and he succeeded. The walk around the city centre, even in the rain, could not dampen our moods. We booked the tour as an alternative to the cruise ship offerings, and it was a great choice. My advice to future cruisers is to book an earlier tour time to give yourself some flexibility to get back to the port. We made it back in the nick of time and will laugh about and cherish our pub crawl with James.

  booked a pub history tour and ended up getting a private experience — what a fantastic surprise! As the only guest, the whole tour felt incredibly personal and relaxed. James was an absolute star: knowledgeable, engaging, and great fun to spend time with. He took me to some really interesting spots, each with its own unique atmosphere and story. The beer tastings were excellent, with a great variety and plenty of insights. What really made the tour stand out was how effortlessly James combined local history with the food and drink experience — it never felt like a lecture, just great conversation while exploring.All in all, a brilliant experience. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate — and if you’re lucky enough to get James as your guide, you’re in for a treat!

  We chose this tour well ahead of our mid March trip and was not disapointed. I wish I could remember our tour guide's name because she was amazing at explaining the history, the pubs, and the array of brews we tasted. Would recommend for the value and information.
