  Our guide Giacomo is extremely well prepared. The tour is just as entertaining as it is informative and accurate. It will give you a blow-by-blow account of the Siege of 1565, the places and the people. Giacomo gives particular attention to the history of the Maltese participants in the siege, a topic that is often neglected or described superficially elsewhere. As a professional graduate historian, I would totally recommend Giacomo's tour, as well as all his other tours in Mdina, Valletta etc.

  An excellent tour filled with informative history which keeps it’s audience engaged. The guide is extremely knowledgeable with a phenomenal background and an excellent understanding of Maltese history. Highly recommend for both Maltese and foreigners!

  Really great experience and definitely not your typical history tour. Giacomo was amazing! He’s clearly very passionate, and the fact that he’s in full costume and actually acts out parts of the story makes it so much more engaging. Instead of just stopping and explaining things, he tells the story of the Great Siege as you walk through the exact places where it happened, which makes it feel very immersive. The group was small and the pace was good (just be ready for some hills around Birgu). I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, both tourists and locals. Maybe not ideal for very young kids since some parts of the story are quite graphic. Overall, a really unique and memorable tour.

  The guide, Giacomo, transported the audience into the past as he stepped into the shoes (quite literally) of a historical figure who lived during the time of the story. While other tours provide information in the form of stories and facts on a range of topics linked to what one sees around them, this tour was a story in its own right. The guide linked the itinerary to locations related to the siege of 1565, and weaved an interesting story that involved the audience through anecdotes and small actions that keep the audience involved. The tour lasted 3 hours in total.

  This tour was one of the absolute highlights of my stay in Malta. The group was pleasantly small, creating a relaxed and personal atmosphere throughout the experience. Our guide, Giacomo, was simply outstanding. You could tell every minute how much he enjoys his work and how much he cares about his guests. Every question was welcomed and answered thoroughly, professionally, and with great enthusiasm. His storytelling brought Malta’s history to life in a fascinating way. The accounts of the Great Siege of Malta were especially impressive. At times, I felt as if I were right there in the middle of the events. It became clear just how bloody and dramatic those days must have been. The historical context was explained in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. Not a single minute of the tour was boring. It was obvious that Giacomo has a genuine passion for history and an impressive depth of knowledge. The time flew by. I learned a great deal while thoroughly enjoying every moment. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour and, in particular, Giacomo to anyone visiting Malta. Thank you so much again, Giacomo!

  After experiencing the Valletta tour, I decided to try the Mdina experience and once again it exceeded expiations Giacomo doesn't simply guide you around Mdina but completely immerses you in the world of medieval Malta through world class storytelling, humour, atmosphere, and fascinating historical detail. If you're looking for an authentic cultural experience in Malta that goes beyond the standard guidebook highlights, this is absolutely worth every euro ,even the tips and communication before worth price of tour itself, and not just one of the best tours but one of the best things we did during our entire very long studying trip in Malta

  A truly wonderful experience. Giacomo, our guide was so professional, both as how he makes you relive the great siege and also the amount of information and detail he goes into about those bloody months. Hands down the best tour you can get about Malta's and Europe's biggest clash of religions.

  Back in Malta once again, and there was never any doubt about who our first choice for a guided tour would be - Giacomo. And he managed to exceed expectations all over again.This time we joined the 1565 Great Siege Tour abd Maltese history I had long heard about and was genuinely excited to explore properly. What followed was yet one of the most immersive and impressive historical experiences we have ever had. Although very different in tone from his other tours, it was every bit as captivating. Giacomo’s storytelling is on another level entirely. The depth of research, the passion, the atmosphere he creates, and the way he brings complex events to life while standing on the actual battlefields where the Maltese and Knights fought… it so felt less like a tour and more like stepping into history itself. the level of detail is extraordinary, yet never overwhelming and being a small number of attendees it was even more special and easier to catch up with Giacomo and ask questions This was once again our favourite part of our Malta trip. If you want to feel the history of the island book a tour with Giacomo. You will remember it long after your holiday ends. Bravo Habib 😊

  We had an amazing experience visiting Birgu during the “Great Siege of Malta 1565 – The Darkest Day of Birgu” tour with Giacomo. His storytelling was captivating from start to finish and made the history feel truly alive. Even with a basic level of English, everything was easy to understand because he explains very clearly and takes the time to make sure everyone can follow. He also makes an effort to show the historical images and details to every person in the group, which really improves the experience. The fact that he dresses up during the tour makes it even more immersive and fun. Honestly, respect to him because with the Maltese heat, it must be incredibly hot in those costumes! A very entertaining, interesting, and memorable tour. I highly recommend Giacomo if you want to discover the history of Birgu in a unique way.

  This was my third tour with Malta Themed Tours, and once again Giacomo did not disappoint. Giacomo has a rare gift for storytelling - he pulls you right in, and with a bit of role play thrown in, you genuinely feel like one of the characters living through history. This was fun! I truly enjoyed it. The Great Siege of Malta is a fascinating chapter in European history, and the battles that led up to it are presented with impressive depth and research. What sets this tour apart, however, is where we were taken. These are not the usual Birgu tourist spots - these are the actual battlefields and battle sites at sea, places where this seige unfolded. Highly recommended. I will absolutely be back for a fourth.
