Instituto Superior de Español is a fantastic place to study Spanish! My partner and I were initially planning to spend two weeks at their Otavalo school but had to change plans and did one week in Quito with them instead. I wish we could have studied with them for longer! The school was extremely accommodating with our changing plans. After my first day of class, they also organized a new class for me that was more appropriate for my level. Their method of teaching was very clear and systematic. Janeth provided a deeper understanding of grammar rules and relationships that I had not received at previous Spanish schools. Prior to our arrival in Quito, I took some online classes with Paula which were equally as helpful and clear. Everyone at the school is very helpful and genuinely look out for their students. There are after-class activities and a coffee/snack break each morning that provide an opportunity to meet students from other classes. I gained so much from just a week at ISE and cannot recommend it enough for anyone looking to improve their Spanish while in Ecuador. It was one of the best things during our time in Quito.

I cannot recommend Insituto Superior de Espanol highly enough! My six weeks with the school and my host family were the best I've had in eight months of travelling. While learning Spanish, the teachers and the curriculum made sure that we were learning in context: learn the word "beber" and you also learn about traditional Ecuadorian drinks and the holidays that they're associated with. Outside of the language classes themeselves, the school also offers cultural immersion activities which are well chosen and priced incredibly affordably, ensuring that you experience the best that Quito has to offer. Beyond these set offerings, the school is also very welcoming and equipped with any and all information that you might need to live/travel in Ecuador such assistance finding medical attention, where to buy cheap and good quality clothes, and how to navigate the bus system. With the support of both the school and my host family, I was able to settle in and experience Ecuador deeply. Ecuador has not been portrayed well in the news lately, but I felt safe during my time in Quito. The airport pick-up was a blessing - I had a safe ride who could give me immediate tips on Quito right away. The safety tips are mostly common sense: don't go out walking at night (but you can take an Uber), only drink filtered/boiled water, don't carry too much money on your person or walk around fully immersed in your phone. Because I am rather cautious, I did make sure to tell the school and my host family about my plans for the day so that they could give me advice (both safety and practical) on my plans. Another important thing to note is that electricity and water outages are common in Ecuador right now due to the drought. Bringing a power bank and adjusting your hours to match the sun are essential for time there.

The school and its wonderful staff members made mi feel at home and I felt I was part of the family right from the first moment. Highly professional tutors that care for students individual needs as well as , assistance with organising trips to the surrounding tourist attractions of Quito. I would highly recommend this school for any future Spanish student.

What a great school! It really felt like a big family and everyone was welcome! When I came here I couldn't speak a word of Spanish. After two weeks I can dream the grammar and I can speak a little bit. Now a lot of practice, so I can also memorize some more words and speak more fluently. I want to thank the school super much for everything! I also recommend the Wednesday excursion to the Amazon and hot springs for sure!!

I was doing a round trip of south america, and started with a month of Spanish at ISE. I was a complete beginner at the start, and after 4 weeks (80 hours of spanish) I was able to have a polite conversation with taxidrivers. It made the rest of my trip in south america alot easier than i would have been without the classes! Very competent teachers! The school even helped plan weekend trips to Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Mindo and Otovalo among others. It was easy planing, and always some student from school to go with.

I already had a little prior knowledge and was able to brush it up during my 3 weeks in language school and of course learn new things. My class consisted of alternating 2-5 students of different nationalities and mixed ages (19 to 41). The lessons have been adapted to our needs. About half of the time we spent on grammar topics, the other half talking about topics of our choice, for example about festivals in Ecuador or travel plans or tips. The lessons included a trip to the nearest market to get to know the local fruits and vegetables. Every week I had a new teacher with a different style, which provided variety. Nevertheless, we worked smoothly on the grammar topics based on each other. During the break, the school provided coffee and particles and it was possible to meet the other students in the break room and arrange to meet for the afternoon. The school has organized trips, but after salsa lessons and cooking classes we had to ask on our own initiative. If there was a problem, we could always contact the staff, whether it was about school or something else. In the end, I was even able to attend classes for a few more days and thus make up for missed hours due to illness. I stayed in a host family with Valeria. There I felt totally well received and enclosed. At breakfast and dinner together we always had a good conversation. Regardless of the language level, everyone could develop their Spanish skills in a pleasant atmosphere. Topics included Ecuadorian culture, cuisine, politics and history as well as hobbies, travel, films and much more. For me, it was a success experience when I could apply what I had learned and it became easier and easier for me to tell about my day, my weekend or my life and plans. Valeria is also a great cook and prepared fresh traditional dishes for us daily. My room was a reasonable size and, like the common areas, was always very clean. When I got sick once, Valeria took care of me warmly and accompanied me to the hospital. There was also often an opportunity to Enterprise with her in her spare time and, for example, to participate in a traditional baptism.

The Spanish school is very good. The teachers and the director are all kind, the organization is good. We had group classes and the school made sure that groups did not exceed 4-5 people. The school also offers the possibility to sleep at home. We were in Valeria's house. Breakfast and dinner are included, and Valeria always manages to make typical dishes, varied and especially very good. The house is comfortable, there are a few books, one can use the kitchen at lunch,... everything is very good. There are also some Ecuadorians who rent rooms in the house. They are very friendly, it allows you to practice Spanish and discover the local culture.

I had a great week in Quito! The teachers in ISE school were great and I learned a lot. Also they gave many advices that helped a lot on my stay in Quito. I stayed at the student residence which is hosted by Valeria. She is a great host! She cared a lot, the food was great and she helped a lot, if I needed it. The room was clean and big and it's near to ISE. You walk 20 minutes. Thank you a lot for the great time, the talks and practicing Spanish at your place, Valeria! It was a pleasure!

I really enjoyed my Spanish class. The teacher addressed all my questions and helped me gained more confidence to speak in Spanish. Time went by quickly as we talked about our interests as well as the Ecuadorian culture. In the breaks I also got to connect with the other students in the institute and went on a trip with them after class.
