There were sufficient parking options available. The ride on the sightseeing train for 2 euros is fine. Purchasing tickets on-site was not a problem, as there were hardly any visitors present even on the weekend. The tour began after a wait of ten minutes. The nine presented rooms are appealing and equipped with original materials. One aspect that was perceived as less than optimal was the necessity of a guided tour, as access to the rooms would not have been possible otherwise. The duration of stay in each room was limited to a maximum of five to six minutes, which made free exploration of the rooms and photography difficult. The information from the audio guide was very superficial and far too long; the speed could not be adjusted to be faster.

The family that owns this castle lives on the ground floor, and the upper floor is open to be viewed. The interior is quite amazing, especially the furniture. There is an audio tour with excellent explanations of each room. We were astonished at the large number of furniture and decorations from the 1500s that have survived all these years. The castle is up a long windy road from the parking area. They offer a train every 20 minutes that runs up and down the hill for 2 euros each way that made the transit so much easier.

Castle is a real gem! We were fortunate that it opened just before we left Tirol (it’s closed during the winter season). A Gothic Castle preserved in great state. Beautiful wood work and a very good audio guide right on your phone. Walking in the castle accompanied by a guide that adds just the right human touch and makes the tour full and interesting. Climbing to the castle from the parking can be done by foot (about 15 min walk uphill) or with a nice little train (the kids liked it) - we went up with the train and down by foot. Kids also wanted a VR experience - not sure its worth the price.

Tratzberg Castle is definitely worth a visit. Particularly impressive are the lovingly designed audio tours, which give exciting insights into the history of the castle. There is even a special variation for children, which is really well done and makes the tour interesting and entertaining for the little ones. A beautifully preserved castle with an exciting view into the past – absolutely recommended!

Beautifully renovated castle with furnished rooms. Had booked online visit + VR, is apparently necessary. VR is fun but the first sentences during the tour (using a listening device, also in Dutch) were the same as with the VR. Children are told a fairy tale story. After the visit you must leave the castle immediately. Parking is payable. Footpath to the castle is very steep, there is a train but that is also payable). Have done the way back via the regular road to the parking lot. Loved it but all those extra costs bothered me because the entrance is not free anyway.

An absolutely lovingly restored castle A gem of the special class I know the castle from the 80s and am overwhelmed what beauty was on display here The tour is very informative and very well structured and absolutely worth the entrance fee. Thanks to the owner family for this tireless work to preserve this castle

Beautiful, historic 500-year-old castle, where part can only be visited as part of a guided tour. The premises are fantastically equipped. Our guide was very open-minded and his remarks were very interesting. He addressed all the questions asked in detail. You can reach the top with a small train or on foot. Parking is available. A worthwhile excursion.

Thanks to the nice staff. Unfortunately, I forgot my wallet. We were still able to participate in the tour. We were let in on account. The castle is absolutely worth seeing. Thank you very much again.

We found the castle to be well-worth the drive from Innsbruck. September is the shoulder-season, so we didn't have to wait long for a tour. We paid about 8 Euros extra for the VR headset show, which gives a bit of history for the castle. The tour group consisted of four German-speakers and the two of us (native English speakers). Yes, the guide did have us listen to the audio handsets for the English, but he spoke pretty good English and answered questions and chatted with us if we engaged him. The interior courtyard is beautifully decorated, as are several of the rooms. There are some very exceptional furnishings, with incredibly detailed carving or inlay, etc. The train ride up the hill is only 2 Euros per person (if I recall correctly), and I think 3 Euros for a round trip. The walk down the road used by the train took us 20 minutes, so I think going up would take 10 minutes more. The footpath goes much more directly to the castle. It could be a bit slippery due to the pea gravel we saw on it, but we would try that approach were we to visit again (and we are older travelers). We did not see bad management, language difficulties, or rude staff as mentioned in a review below from April 2022, and we cannot agree that the 'exposition is poor'. This is worth a drive from Innsbruck.
