  We booked the trip to Ijen two days in advance, and what can I say ... Everything was perfect and so easy going. Benn (owner) was so kind and patient with our questions. And we had a lot of them 😅 We took the ferry from Bali (Gilimanuk) to Java at 11pm. Our guide and driver picked us up at the harbor. We had a lot of fun with our guide Samsul Cung and the driver Azis! The 1.5-hour drive felt so short because it was so much fun 😊 Cung made the whole trip special and took good care of us. He gave us so much information about the miners and is such a funny guy ❤️ If we got it right, he also worked as a miner. He knows the Ijen very well, and we would go with him again 🙏🏽 When he is free, make the journey with him! The way back to the harbor was quick, and they helped us with the ferry ticket. Everything was so easy and fun! When the Ijen don't take your breath, Samsul will do it with his jokes 😅 We recommend these guys 100%!

  

  

  

  

• Well organised 3D 2N Ijen Crater hike & Sukamade Beach

  We contacted Osing Vacation's owner Mr Benny via whatsapp to arrange for the 3 days 2 nights Ijen Crater hike - Sukamade Turtle Beach - De Djawatan Forest. Mr Benny gave us a very reasonable price for the 3D 2N trip and we only paid for everything upon arrival in Banyuwangi town. We had been notified that the local authority has yet to open the route for Blue Flame. After some discussion with Mr Benny, we still went ahead with our trip. Mr Benny told us that Kawah Ijen or Ijen Crater area has spectacular landscape and a unique hiking experience to visit and talk to the locals who mined for sulphur. We are very thankful to Mr Benny for convincing us - it was indeed a very interesting hike with awesome landscape. We had hike in Bromo, Bali and Lombok, and Ijen has its own uniqueness. We highly recommend Osing Vacation for : 1) Reasonably priced, the tour was confirmed even for just 2 guests 2) Reliable and experienced driver throught our 3D 2N journey - Mr Azis was very patient and soft-spoken. He knew the roads very well and was aways smiling and attentive. 3) Our Ijen hiking guide was Mr Imron - he used to be one of the Ijen sulphur miners and knew where are the spots to get the best views. He brought us to where his father works (he is still working as a sulphur miner even though he is already in his 50s) . We met him somewhere not too far from the Blue Flame site. We also had so much fun at Sukamade Turtle beach and the 2 century old forest of Djawatan. We will keep the review for this segment of our trip under Sukamade Beach.   We had a great time with Osing. Benn, the owner, was really communicative and organised everything without fuss - including when I got my dates wrong and he had to rearrange at short notice. We had a great trip to Kawah Ijen, guided really well by Zayn, who even had an amazing surprise for us at the end of the day (which I won’t spoil for anyone else he guides). Benn then personally sorted out a transfer for us at significantly less than the price our hotel suggested. Benn’s father was a sulphur miner, and much of what Osing do supports and regenerates the local area. He trains, employs and supports miners and their families, and we were really glad to be with him and his team. Kawah Ijen itself was one of the most extraordinary things we’ve seen. Well worth the trip.

  Amazing tour with a really great guide, and top-notch service. Not only, you get an excellent service during the tour, communication, etc., but you get to know insights on the culture, living conditions of the population, and that special extra that you get from sharing with locals.

  One of the best things we did while our travels. We stayed at osing vacation and did the ijen tour with the waterfall afterwards. The Homestay is very traditional and we felt very comfortable and well welcomed there! The traditional Indonesian breakfast we got after the tour was amazing! I unfortunately forgot the name of our tourguide but he was amazing!! He was a former worker at the sulfur mining, so he knew a lot about the area and the people working there. You should never miss ijen if your in jawa! We saw the blue fire and amazing landscapes! We felt very safe and the tourguide was always looking after us. We learned a lot about the sulfur mining and with taking the tour you really help people to get out of the really bad working conditions of sulfur mining. We would really recommend you to ask Benn (the host) and your tourguide about his story and his work, it was very interesting to hear and learn about the sulfur mining. So the money you spend for the tour helps him with his charity work!   This was the BEST experience! From start to finish, contact with the company, pickup and drop off arrangements and of course the trek itself. Everything ran smoothly and we were very well looked after. The highlight was our amazing and humble tour guide Cung who was a wonderful and kind person and very knowledgeable about Ijen and the local area. He looked after us, told us stories about the volcano and the miners (him and his dad being miners). He kept us safe and gave us the best advice when going down into the crater. We really enjoyed seeing his local village and learning about his culture and seeing the rice paddies, coffee and rubber plantations. We loved every moment and sad it has come to an end.   This tour is amazing. The crater is out of this world and the waterfalls were perfect to refresh ourselves after the hike. Many thanks to our driver Aziz and our guide Hasyim, who was very funny, knowledgeable and always made sure we were safe in the crater. You won’t regret booking this tour!

  We had a great time with our guide Hasyim who made us discover the crater Ijen. It was just a shame that access to the hiking trail only opened at 3am, which means it's too late to hope to see the blue flames at the top.

  We booked the tour directly through our homestay Osingvacation. Communication via Whatsapp was extremely easy and uncomplicated, we were picked up directly from the train station and received on site like a family member. The house is neat and clean. In the evening we were invited to a party in the village and were able to get some deeper insights into life on Java. Thank you for this:)!!! At night we went on time at 00:30 with a driver and the guide towards Ijen. The journey takes about 1 hour and the footpath consists of about 3 km to the crater rim. 2 km of it quite easy, 1 km steeper but everything on a neat path. From the crater rim you can climb again in about half an hour to the blue flames. We were equipped with headlamps for the tour and later with proper gas masks. After taking enough photos of the blue flames we went back up to the crater rim to enjoy the sunrise from above. There was no time pressure or a fixed route, we could determine what and when we wanted to do. Thank you for the many answered questions and stories our guide told us during the tour. As a miner, there are some of them. We can recommend the tour and the homestay without restriction!!!
