  We had a fantastically interesting trip to the Marble quarries near Vila Visosa. Who knew that Portuguese marble is world renowned. The process of mining is extraordinary and you get view the moonscape of a working quarry. Our guide Joao was great, he had expert knowledge and clearly loves his home place. He keep us engaged the whole time. I is well worth a visit

  We recently took part in this marble tour and are completely thrilled! From the beginning we were warmly welcomed by our friendly tour guide João. The introduction to geology was extremely interesting – you not only learn facts, but you really understand the enormous importance marble has had for the region and art history over the centuries. An absolute highlight was the visit to the active marble quarry. The sheer size and atmosphere there are simply impressive. You get a completely new feel for the material when you see the effort these huge blocks are extracted from. The tour was rounded off by a visit to a processing plant. It was fascinating to see the precision with which the raw rock produces noble end products. Conclusion: A perfectly organized tour with the ideal mix of information and wonder.   We enjoyed the 3 hour tour. Our group was only 5 people. Our guide, Joaquina, was friendly, knowledgeable and animated. She explained how marble was formed, then took us to the working quary to watch marble blocks being mined. Next we went to a active processing shop where we could see how the blocks of marble were turned into slabs and tiles. It is a well worthwhile tour.

  My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Tour do Marmore in Vila Vicosa. The Tour Guide was exceptional, he was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and super friendly, One could tell that he loves what he does.

  Led by an experienced English speaking and enthusiastic guide. First built up some theoretical knowledge, then marble processing in practice. Educational and also very special, especially when it comes to the visit to the mines.
