Our hosts were delightful, informative, warm, well organized teachers. The whole afternoon was well planned and fun. Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our time in their home. We loved making three types of onigiri and then had quite the feast while getting to know each other. This was a highlight of our trip. Don’t miss out!

I went with my partner and it was such a nice experience! I recommend it 100%, we got to talk about cultural differences apart from learning how to make onigiris.

Amazing experience with Mune and Hitomi! Not only did we love the Onigiri making experience but also loved chatting with them about life in Japan overall!

Two things I want to share. First, let’s talk about onigiri. We all know onigiri from anime. But coming to Japan and not trying to make one feels like an incomplete journey. Not every place offers an onigiri-making experience. Seeing Nara and the deer in the morning, and then making three different kinds of onigiri, made the day complete. And it’s only 10 minutes from Nara Park. Now about the experience — I practiced making three different types of onigiri. Did you know you have to use both your dominant and non-dominant hand to shape it perfectly? Sensei was very patient and guided me several times until I got the shape right. As a Muslim, I have some food restrictions, and I truly appreciated how carefully they accommodated them. They made sure I could fully enjoy my dinner with the onigiri I made.

Our onigiri-making session in Nara was fantastic! Our host was an excellent and welcoming teacher. The experience was perfectly balanced—highly informative and genuinely fun. We learned the secrets to making the perfect rice ball and loved every minute. Highly recommend this unique and delicious cultural experience!

I had such a great time! After visiting Nara Park, I wanted to do something where I could actually talk with local people, and this activity was perfect. Mune-san, the host, was super kind and fun to talk to. I learned about onigiri and washoku, and even made three onigiri myself. They were a bit tricky, but I pulled it off.. and I was pretty proud of them! At the end, they served a delicious meal with the onigiri I made. It was really nice to eat together and chat with the hosts. I totally recommend this to anyone who wants more than just “sightseeing.” Whether you’re traveling solo, or with a partner or group, you’ll have a great time and make some really good memories.

I’ve joined several sushi-making workshops in Osaka and Kyoto, but somehow never tried the most humble classic — the onigiri. So I booked a session here out of curiosity. The experience begins with a brief introduction to onigiri basics, followed by the hands-on part. Shaping the rice with my own hands is surprisingly satisfying, and enjoying the onigiri as dinner feels even better. It’s an excellent activity for children as well. Unlike other cooking classes that require many tools, making onigiri is very intuitive — it’s all about the feel of the rice in your hands. The staff speak English, so communication is easy and stress-free. A simple, honest, and genuinely enjoyable workshop.
