  The description online is close but not complete Located in the Naramachi section of Nara about 10-15 min walk from the deer park and temple complex The experience begins with a tasting of 5 different types of green tea, then nearly a complete tea ceremony with each of us making our own matcha tea and learning the history and techniques of matcha Our instructor spoke English very well and gave us suggestions on how to spend the remainder of the day Would recommend for teens and adults, not really for small children. Would be great for families with teens and couples

  "Mike" was an excellent teacher of "tea." We learned so much. Doing the side by side tasting was very good in understanding the different teas. Mike was very patient in answering our questions. We now have an appreciation of the nuances of Japanese tea ceremony. It was fun trying to whisk our own macha.

  I couldn't recommend this experience enough if you're a tea/matcha fanatic! The tutors were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They teach you the origins and significance of a traditional tea ceremony. The entire experience was very calming, a welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo! At the end of the experience they give you insider tips on what to do/where to eat/bars to visit in Nara - because of that I highly recommend starting your day in Nara with this experience - all of the recommendations were fantastic. If you want to immerse yourself in Naras scene and culture, book this experience!

  This was awesome! My host was super informative and helpful when it came to discussing different tea options and traditional tea ceremonies! He was also just super fun to chat with! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has the chance while visiting Nara!

  Exciting experience with having to try the different tea variations and experience the difference between them. When the master brewed the selected tea, it became even better and got a creamy taste.

  Really great experience. Mike was knowledgeable and very kind. We had different type of teas in a traditional setting and had the opportunity to make our own matcha tea.   You can enjoy Japanese tea and some traditional sweets! The guys working there were nice and kind. They taught us where should we visit in Nara.
