• Penguins everywhere you look!

  My family had an amazing day at Punto Tombo with our tour guide Mary and driver Federico, both provided by Darwin Travel. My family has some special travel needs, and Carina at Darwin worked with me to ensure a smooth, worry-free day. When NCL changed our itinerary, Karina had already rescheduled our tour before I even had a chance to ask her to do so! We will always remember our day at Punto Tombo. There are penguins everywhere you look. It was incredible. We saw hundreds of fuzzy penguin chicks with their parents in their nests. They were feet away from us and sometimes walked right up to us. We saw dozens of guanacos as well as sea lions, petrels, rheas, and quail. Mary was a personable and knowledgeable tour guide, and Federico is a great driver. They met us at the end of the pier, and we arrived at Punto Tombo well before the crowds from the buses did. Mary and Federico created a wonderful day for us. They both have our highest recommendation!

  We were visiting Puerto Madryn on our recant Antarctica Cruise and after 'googling' some options before we left home, decided to book our trip through Darwin Tours Patagonia. We had emailed them before booking to make sure they understood our need to get back to our ship in time (Punta Tombo is a fair journey from the port) and based on the excellent communication with Carina (who was also our guide on the day), we decided to book. What a brilliant decision this was, we had a fantastic trip to the penguin rookery and Carina gave us loads of information on our journey there & back and accompanied us for part of the way around the reserve & visitor centre (this has toilets, an exhibition of the lifecycle of the penguins and local wildlife and a small shop), providing lots of information from her knowledge of the area. One advantage of this small group tour, is they aim to get you to the rookery, ahead of the other tours and the meeting instructions they provided (just a short walk along the cruise pier after leabing the ship), were absolutely spot on. this way, we managed to arrive at Punta Tombo ahead of the coaches, which obviously need to wait until everyone is off the ship before departing. They drove us in a comfortable vehicle which was air conditioned and had an audio system installed, so that Carina could point out places of interest on our way. This gave us plenty of time at the reserve and also, to enjoy a delicious packed lunch which she had brought along (which we hadnt expected), before heading back to the ship. We arrived back, with plenty of time to explore the local promenade near the port entrance before boarding. We would highly recomend using Darwin Tours Patagonia for this or any of the trips they offer if you are visiting, the service provided was very professional and Carina & our driver were lovely.

  

  

  

  

  

• Super Worth It!!! Great Private Excursion

  Awesome experience! Great communication from Carina to make sure I have all the information needed a couple of days before the excursion. Everything was on point. Our guide, Fabian, was right there and was very excited to meet us early. Because of the efficiency, we got to Punta Tombo with just a party of 4 ahead of us. So basically no else there but us. We were so early there were penguins that kept crossing our path! I highly recommend this if you have a group of 4. By the time we were leaving, the busses from the cruise port were just arriving. Got back to Puerto Madryn early enough that Fabian even offered to give us a quick driving tour around but we opted to explore the area on foot. Bonus...for the 4 of us, it turned out to be way cheaper than joining a larger tour group. Thank you, Carina and Fabian!

  Carina is an excellent guide. Extensive knowledge, speaks several languages, knows exactly what the tourist needs and would like to do. A first quality professional. Very delicate, attentive and interested in providing all the information and details about the tours. Super recommend!
