  I came to Shimbashi with a friend, not quite sure what to expect. What Ken showed us that evening was something I'll carry with me for a long time — small bars tucked into alleyways, the quiet hum of after-work conversations, the smell of yakitori in the air. Nothing staged, nothing polished. Just real, everyday Japanese life, exactly as it is. Ken has a rare gift for hospitality. He was calm, warm, and endlessly thoughtful — always making sure we felt comfortable, always adding a layer of context that made each stop feel meaningful. You never felt like a tourist. You felt like a guest. Shimbashi is not on the usual tourist map, and that's precisely what makes this experience so valuable. If you've ever wondered what Japan looks like when it's simply being itself — this is it. Five stars, with gratitude.

  The tour of Shimbashi Izakaya with my friends was really fun and a great experience to fully enjoy the local charms of Tokyo! The guide was very kind and introduced us to the characteristics of each shop and the history of Shimbashi in an easy-to-understand manner, so I enjoyed it with peace of mind even for the first time. We were able to visit taverns with a good atmosphere that we couldn't enter on our own, and the food and sake were very good. I could feel the real atmosphere of Shimbashi now crowded with friends. It became a memorable night with my friends and one of the most memorable nights of my trip to Tokyo. This tour is highly recommended for those who want to experience the nightlife of Shimbashi!

  Ken was such a great person looking after us throughout his tour. I really enjoyed the time spent at an Izakaya he selected. Ken talked about a lot about his life in Japan which made me interested so much. I truly recommend Ken to all of my friends who are planning Japan trips in the future.

  Ken-san kindly arranged a reservation for us, and we had such a great time. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was delicious, and everything felt very smooth and comfortable throughout the evening. It was a wonderful place to enjoy good conversation and drinks with friends. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a relaxed and enjoyable night out nearby Shinbashi station!

  I had some free time one evening during my stay in Shinbashi, but since I wasn’t familiar with the area, I joined this tour to get some local recommendations. Ken-san, was very friendly and took me to places that matched my preferences perfectly. I had a fantastic time and would love to join again!

  I added a day & a night on in Tokyo and I really wanted an authentic foodie experience- and this is exactly what Ken’s tour is all about- great local places where only locals go, delicious food, great atmosphere etc. I felt privileged to be shown these places and to learn about Japanese stand up bars where you use dice to pick your dishes! Loved drinking sake and local beers - this is the tour if you really want to get to know authentic foodie Japan!
