  I was in Kagoshima in mid-May and wow - what a beautiful place. However, it wouldn't have been the same without ending my journey on the high note of Mr. Hashimoto's SUP tour. We met outside Mr. Hashimoto's hotel at about five in the morning, and headed straight to the beach to watch the sunrise. Make sure you bring your own clothes which you are fine with getting wet, but Mr. Hashimoto is so kind and he let me borrow some clothes. We arrived at the beach in time to see the morning sky reddening into it's full glory, with Sakurajima gently piping away in the background. We also drank some coffee that Mr. Hashimoto kindly made for us. It's not really a view I can put into words, but it might be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. As for the SUP, Mr Hashimoto was very helpful and it was an easy and fun experience. If you don't want to stand, you can sit, or even lie down on the SUP. It was magical being on the sea whilst gazing at beautiful Sakurajima. The breakfast at Mr. Hashimoto's hotel was really wholesome and delicious, the shabu shabu pork hot pot was especially delicious. I cannot recommend this tour enough, Mr. Hashimoto was the best and kindest guy! Please try it! **Also, I can speak Japanese but I wasn't super confident so I picked the English option. The translator, Ayaka, was very kind and helpful. She has a lot of interesting experiences to talk about like seeing the Northern lights. 私は、五月の中旬鹿児島に行って、外国人の私にとって今迄日本の一番美しい旅行行先だった。SUP経験は本当、一生心に残ると思う。 朝の五時ぐらい、南洲館の前で橋本さんと通訳者のあやかさんに会って、滞りなく海岸に向かった。一緒に日の出を見ながらコーヒーを飲んだ。少し噴火している桜島も赤らんでる空に囲まれていて、感動した。 私は着替えを忘れたけど、濡れていい洋服を持ってきたほうがいいと思う。橋本さんは非常にやさしい人なので、私に着替えを貸し出してくれた。 SUPも楽しくて、無事でできた。橋本さんの指導は易しく理解できた。SUPに立ちたくない場合は、座ったり、横たわったりするのも平気。 朝食も滋養で豊富で、とても美味しかった。さすが黒豚しゃぶしゃぶは特に口に合った。 橋本さんは本当に朗らかで優しい人だ。鹿児島の主民の暖かさが感じられた。 日本語で自分の気持ちをぱっと表現できなかったが、鹿児島に行ったら、ぜひSUP試してください！

  We had an amazing experience watching the sun rise behind Sakurajima, while paddling slowly over the clean, transparent water. Although it was our first time doing SUP and it was a cold morning, it went really well and once on the board we could relax and enjoy the view. Ryu and Gen from the agency took really great care of us, preparing equipment, making coffee, showing us the basics and keeping on time to catch sunrise. The japanese breakfast afterwards was very generous and delicious, with so many different plates to choose from, including the excellent black pork shabu-shabu shabu. So satisfying!
