• Amazing and extremely enjoyable experience

  We decided to take the truffle hunting tour in September and we’re lucky enough to have Alan as our guide. The visit allowed us to go into the forest to watch Ivan and his two working dogs search for truffles. In order not to get too muddy you are given shoe coverings so no need to worry about continuing your journey covered in mud! You are then driven to Ipsa oil where you have the opportunity to taste different olive oils, produced and sold by Ipsa followed by a delicious pasta lunch topped with the truffles you found on your truffle hunt earlier that day. You then were able to sample their locally produced wine. Quite a lovely experience as the family are so welcoming and enthusiastic about what they produce. We then were able to enjoy a wine tour at Kozlovic winery. Not only was the wine superb but the setting was amazing. Alan’s knowledge of the local area is extensive having lived there all of his life. He knows everyone and if anyone can organise a trip tailored to your needs, he is definitely your go to agent.

  I cannot recommend this trip enough! Alen was a wonderful guide with a sense of humor and thorough knowledge of the history and sites! The day moved so fluidly and overall, I considered this to be a highlight of my trip to Istria!

  We booked wine tasting and truffle hunting but Alan also included honey and olive oil tasting for us, we were treated to an amazing 5 star experience all day, within the most beautiful settings that you wouldn’t find on your own, with expert explanations including personal and geographical historical information, we have done many tours over the world but I will remember this for a very long time, it has made us want to come back to Istria and to see and experience more. Thank you Alan

  This was a truly 5 star experience, Alan, our private guide was wonderful, he shared lots of personal and geographical history of the region, we tasted the most amazing produce in beautiful settings, a day I will remember for a long time!! Can’t recommend highly enough, worth every penny

  We had an amazing day with Alen and his friends throughout Istria on the Truffle hunt and wine tour. Everything was magical, from the truffle hunt and meeting the dogs, to the generous portions of olive oil, wine and delicious local foods. One day is not enough, we will be back! Thank you for an enjoyable experience!

  Enjoyed the truffle excursion (a little brief), vineyards, and tour guide’s knowledge/explanations. The only concern was that I believe we paid for a private tour; yet, another couple joined us. As such, we did not actually have a private tour and we spent an additional 35-45 minutes dropping the other couple off and the end of the excursion before we were ultimately dropped off.

  This was such an amazing tour. Alan is wonderful and one of a kind. It was private and had such a personal touch, and we got to do and see everything we wanted, while meeting amazing people along the way. We love Istria and want to come back and do another tour with Alan! Highly, highly recommend!!

  our guide Alen is a force of nature. His passion and knowledge of istrian wine is immense, we were schooled on the ways of malvazia wine, and given the privilege of trying an old teran, and a plavec-teran mix, the only one ever made. the olive oil tasting was with an award winning house ! highly recommened for the serious foodie, who only expects the best. we ended the trip on a sweet note with dessert in a local konoba, in the small village he grew up in. what more does one needs ........

  We had such a nice day. Our ride from Rovinj to Livade was month and comfortable. We were not expecting to find truffles with Nikola as we new the season was late but we loved the walk, the dogs and learning from someone who was so passionate. The rustic vineyard was fantastic, lunch was amazing. The truffle shop Figanti was authentic with fresh truffles for sale. Also, a valuable life lesson, 2 minute no audio!
