2.00It seems we caught them on a bad day, as this was our only less-than-smooth tour operator experience in Botswana. Our driver didn’t show up at the appointed time so after about 20 minutes I called. The manager apologized and said the driver had slept in but another tour van would be there in 10 minutes. Instead, a taxi showed up and the driver rushed us to the border, not wearing his seatbelt and running a red light on the way. (If it were a less safe country I would have been concerned about who we were getting in vehicles with.) There was no one there to meet us immediately even though we were late. A woman wearing a shirt from a different company helped us through the border. On the Zimbabwe side, our driver told us he had been double-booked to do an airport pickup in the middle of the day rather than waiting for us outside the Falls as expected. To their credit, they reassigned the airport pickup so he could take us back to the border at our chosen time. Again there was no Afro Honeyguide employee to meet us at the border even though the driver had updated them on our timeline. It all just seemed disorganized and not confidence-inspiring.
