The Mary Todd Lincoln House is partially wheelchair accessible. The first floor of the museum can be reached via a handicap lift and is wheelchair navigable. Please ask staff for access to the lift. The second floor is not wheelchair accessible. There are twenty-one steps to the second floor. A photo album of the upstairs is available for visitors who are unable to or choose not to tour the upstairs.

5.00Our family enjoys history! What an incredible experience to tour the home of Mary Todd Lincoln! The home is beautiful and the strength of Mary Todd, impeccable considering the unbelievable trauma and grief she experienced! I loved hearing about each room, how Mary had only 10 years of formal schooling and how strong she was as a first lady, a wife and a Mother!! Definitely a tour to take especially for anyone who appreciates history! We LOVED the museum too!! Take a little history home!! The Moore Family

4.00Having toured her later home in Springfield, we learned a lot about her earlier life during our visit to the Mary Todd Lincoln home. Though a wealthy home in its day, it is small by current standards. The Foundation has done a excellent job with period furnishings. The docents interpret a family in a family home in which a future First Lady was raised. Forty-five minutes to an hour is sufficient for and enjoyable visit. The Mry Todd Lincoln Home is a Lexington landmark not to be missed.

4.00This was the home of former First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln. It was very interesting to read about her story, she has endured quite a lot of criticism and trauma. The people were very nice and the gift shop super nice.

4.00This is a nice period home preserved to retain and inform the visitors about the history of Mary Todd Lincoln's family during her time living there. The docents were incredibly informative. The antiques on display are of the period but few actually belonged to the Todd family. The gift shop has some unique items. The grounds are beautiful. The home is easy to miss on a busy street right by Rupp Arena.

5.00Being from Illinois it was nice to get a perspective on Mary Todd Lincoln besides the fact that she married Abraham Lincoln. The house has a lot of information on the Todd family and Mary’s life which I didn’t know. This is a great stop for history buffs!

5.00We took the self-guided tour and it was perfect. There are plenty of signs to read in each room that explain the family history and furnishings. The house is located in town, but has a parking lot behind the house. There are guides on each floor to answer any questions you might have.

5.00We were unable to attend one of the guided tours, but the staff pitched in beautifully to make sure we had a good experience. The staffmembers with whom we spoke were extremely knowledgeable not just about the Lincolns’ biographies but about the relevant US/Kentucky/Lexington histories. The house is a somewhat modest dwelling, and not all the contents are original (as is made clear), but there are ample materials for making sense of the political and social contexts of these famous lives (including of course contexts for Mary Todd Lincoln’s allegedly erratic behavior). Compared to other historical sites I’ve seen that were homes of famous white people, both the printed materials and the guides did a good job of highlighting the contributions and constraints of enslaved African Americans in the household. The gift shop stocks a variety of interesting books as well as souvenirs.
