Join us for a unique day trip from Athens to Meteora, designed as a comfortable premium roadtrip experience — not just a simple bus transfer. Unlike typical tours stopping at crowded highway service stations, we enjoy relaxing seaside stopovers in Kamena Vourla at the beachfront Camino Beach Bar for optional brunch and dinner by the sea.
In Meteora, an expert local English-speaking Tour Leader shares the history and hidden stories of this UNESCO World Heritage Site throughout the journey and panoramic stops. Visit inside 3 monasteries (entrance fees not included), enjoy photo stops at all 6 monasteries, and discover the hermit caves of Badovas.
Inside the monasteries, visits are self-guided with a smart multilingual audio guide featuring 21 points of interest, offline access, and interactive maps.
Optional traditional Greek lunch at Efrosino Restaurant in Kastraki is included when selected.

Dress Code for Monastery Visits: Please note that a modest dress code is enforced to enter the monasteries. For women, skirts below the knee or longer are required. Pants, shorts, or sleeveless shirts are not allowed. For men, sleeveless clothing and shorts above the knee are also prohibited.
Rain or Shine: This tour will take place regardless of the weather conditions. Please come prepared with appropriate clothing and accessories to ensure a comfortable experience.
Climbing Steps to Monastery Tops: Please be aware that reaching the top of the monasteries involves climbing steps. There are no elevators available, so please consider this if you have any mobility concerns.
Monastery entrance fees are not included (€5 per person, per monastery, cash only).
Supplier is not responsible if you miss the bus please be there on time (15 minutes before the departure)
Tour is guided in English only. Additional languages (Spanish, French German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese) are available on a free SMART audio guide.
At midday, you will enjoy a relaxing break in the picturesque village of Kastraki, where you can savor a delicious traditional Greek meal at a local restaurant. You will have the option to choose from 10 authentic Greek dishes, catering to all dietary preferences: Meat & Poultry Options: Chicken baked in the oven with potatoes Meatballs in red sauce (Soutzoukakia) Pastitsio (Greek-style lasagna) Moussaka Vegetarian Choices: Greek salad Spinach and feta cheese pie Cheese pie Vegan Options: Stuffed peppers & tomatoes with risotto (Gemista) Briam (Greek-style roasted vegetables) Giant beans baked in the oven (Gigantes) Bread and water are included with the meal. If you prefer, you can also choose and pay for your meal directly at the restaurant.
Please note that the toilets at Varlaam Monastery require a €1 fee.
The monasteries visited may vary depending on operating schedules and closure days.

Transfer to Athens arriving at approx. 22.30pm - Inclusions: 1 night stay in 3* hotel with breakfast. Sunset tour the first day. 5.00This tour was amazing from start to finish! The breakfast and dinner spots were at the same place on the beach and they had amazing food and coffee! You order ahead on the bus and it's ready for you by the water at sunset! For the Monasteries, our tour guide Maria was amazing! She gave great history and had a great sense of humor as well! The sites were unbelievable! This was one of the top highlights of our trips - I wouldn't miss it if you're going to be in Athens!

5.00Very long day, was a very nice bus that took us. Coastal stop was lovely. Meteora cool to see once but after awhile it feels like you are seeing the same thing over and over. To visit the monasteries be prepared to walk, beautiful view.

3.00So this was an amazing experience the tour guide was amazing !!! I forget was his name is now I did this one at the very start of my trip but he was a younger guy he was SO funny and personable . So was the other tour guide that worked for the same company they were both absolutely amazing this was such a cool experience the only thing I did not like was the bus didn’t have a bathroom on it and it’s a four hour bus ride one way (8 hours total) you do stop about 2 hours in but I drank a lot of water and found my self realllly struggling on the bus rides to hold it 😅😅 that’s really the only thing I didn’t like I think for a trip like this when you have to keep hydrated not having bathrooms on these buses isn’t great lol you stop about 2 hours in on both bus trips but it just wasn’t enough lol . So I’d opt for more stops or if the company can get a bus with a bathroom that would be the best for a trip like this otherwise it was super awesome and I had a great time as a solo traveler

5.00Maria was wonderful. Her stories of growing up the area were entertaining and insightful. The lunch was wonderful and was dinner. The 3 monasteries we toured were so beautiful and the views were stunning. I would highly recommend putting this tour at the top of your list if you plan to visit Athens.

5.00We were in awe for the entire adventure. So grateful to take a day away from the Athens city and experience the natural beauty of this part of Greece. Our guide Maria was engaging and very informative always sharing valuable information and pleasant to talk with and be around. The dinner was an extra cost but highly recommended. We enjoyed the beachside dinner, Sea Bass and fried cheese appetizer. Our only negative experience was the menu to order Brunch and Dinner, there was no guide to greet us during the first leg of the bus tour to help clarify the process/menu that is left on the bus seats. We thought we had to order what we wanted for the included lunch (found out later it was a different restaurant and was a buffet) instead the “brunch” was an extra stop and extra charge. We didn’t know it was at the first stop so didn’t know to inquire to receive it. When we went back to the same Camino restaurant for dinner they offered to refund us but we have not seen the refund on our card and that was 3 weeks ago. Otherwise the day was a wonderful experience.

5.00Loved the drivers and tour guide. Although the drive was lengthy to get there, they broke it up appropriately with a brunch stop and had us getting out a lot once we arrived. Stopped at the first brunch place for dinner. It was a great day!

5.00This was INCREDIBLE!! Easily one of the most beautiful and probably the coolest place I’ve ever been in my life. We went to three monasteries and didn’t have a lot of time to nerd out and read all the plaques because there was so much history but lots of time to just wander around and take pictures. Our tour guide Maria was awesome, very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommend this tour if you just want to do a day trip.

5.00Exactly what we expected. A very long day on the bus that was worth it for the incredible views at Meteora. The bus was pretty comfortable, and the trip was definitely made bearable by the planned stops for brunch and dinner. The food at the stops was nothing special but the system for ordering was efficient and got us in and out on time, though note that turnaround was pretty quick at dinner so some people had less time to eat than us because they made the mistake of ordering larger dishes like steak which took a while to come out. The visits to the actual sites felt appropriately long, neither too short nor too long. Letting us absorb the incredible views without making us impatient to move on. Overall, would say this is a must experience site, whether or not going from Athens makes sense to you is determined by whether you expect to ever travel to northern Greece in the future.

5.00A long day trip due to Meteora's distance from Athens, but this is an unforgettable experience. The rock formations and the monasteries are incredible, it seems like there's no way anyone could get up there, but then you get there--it's like magic. Our guide Maria was very knowledgeable and efficient, and the bus was comfortable. We visited three monasteries, which seemed like just the right number. Plenty of options and stops for photos, etc.
