Start the day with your adrenaline pumping on a Canyoning Experience tour, where we will immerse ourselves in nature by taking you to explore magnificent rivers and waterfalls using different canyoning techniques such as jumps, rappels, and water slides. Undoubtedly, the most thrilling and adventurous way to experience Azorean nature up close in one of the most beautiful locations on the island.
Spend the afternoon exploring the picturesque village of Furnas, where you will enjoy the traditional “Cozido das Furnas” at a local restaurant. Afterward, visit the volcanic calderas and choose between a relaxing bath in the thermal waters of Parque Terra Nostra or Poça da Dona Beija, both iconic locations (entrance tickets not included).

Upon arrival, we will proceed with the distribution of your personal equipment and then set off on short walk of ~ 15min to our first stop where we will have our first safety briefing. We will then continue on a short scramble uphill where we will then stop for our second safety briefing, where we will show you how to rappel before continuing onwards and upwards for another ~10min to the start of the canyon where the fun will begin! The Canyoning Experience: After reaching the top of the canyon you will start the second part of your adventure. You can expect several jumps (between 2 and 7 meters in height, all optional), a natural slide and some abseils (between 5 and 15m in height). We will walk back along our initial path to the starting point. After the canyoning experience, it’s time for a well-deserved lunch. We will go to the village of Furnas where you will taste a traditional dish “Cozido das Furnas” in a local restaurant. We will then take a short walk to the Caldeiras Vulcânicas to get a closer look at the fumarolic fields and hot springs. Proceed with a visit to Terra Nostra Botanical Garden or Poça Dona Beija, where you can relax in the therapeutic thermal waters.

5.00We just finished a beautiful day in Ribera do Caldeiroes and Furnas. The canyon is just magnificent, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Our guide Teresa, was amazing - fun, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Our very first canyoning experience was a little more than we bargained for, but we felt very secure in Teresa’s capable hands. Great instruction and guidance. Our afternoon in Furnas was a wonderful experience. From Cozido stew cooked in the ground to the beautiful Terra Nostra, even the rain could not ruin the day.

Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and skilled when it came to canyoning—making us feel safe and confident every step of the way—but he also shared so much about the island's history, geology, and culture. He clearly loves what he does and where he lives, and it made the whole experience feel even more special.
