Although there are a lot of tourists, if you are only in town for a couple days it is a great way to see the countryside, do a safe hike, see a beautiful lake and do a bit of touristy fun. The restaurants are great along the different stops and the grotto bike was a fun option to ride down.

Our day at Grindelwald First Adventure Park was, unfortunately, the worst experience of our entire trip to Switzerland. From start to finish it felt chaotic and badly managed, with staff who seemed uninterested at best and openly irritated at worst.[facebook +1] We arrived for the mountain cart right at opening, around 9:00, expecting things to be organized and ready to go. Instead there was a growing line of people, one overwhelmed employee, and absolutely no information being shared about when or how things would start. No safety briefing, no announcements, and no explanation of the process. A second employee finally showed up around 9:30—half an hour after opening—and only then did they begin checking people in, as if they were surprised guests had actually arrived on time.[jungfrau +1] The line for the carts moved painfully slowly, and it was clear there was no real system in place to manage the flow of people or communicate expected wait times. This matched what we’d heard later: on busy days, visitors can face extremely long waits just to do a single activity, which the operator doesn’t clearly warn about beyond vague website notices that “long waiting times must be expected.”[ricksteves +3] Our second activity, the scooter (Trottibike), turned from frustrating to genuinely concerning. The route is very long and steep, and while the marketing calls it a family activity, there is only minimal instruction at the top and very little emphasis on how demanding the descent actually is. Halfway down, my husband’s scooter blew a tire. This is not just an inconvenience on this terrain; you are on a steep mountain road, moving downhill on gravel and paved sections, with no easy way to get help.[jungfrau +2] When we finally made it to the bottom and explained what had happened, the staff’s response was shockingly dismissive. They more or less brushed it off and told him he should have just ridden on the rim—which was both bent and clearly unsafe to use. There was no offer to send someone up to help, no concern for whether he was okay, and not even a token gesture like an apology or a partial refund. It echoed what others have described: minimal communication, a culture of having guests sign waivers and then washing their hands of any responsibility, and staff who seem completely detached when something goes wrong.[tiktok +1] For the prices they charge, you would expect professional, efficient operations and a strong focus on safety. Instead, we experienced disorganization, poor communication, long unnecessary waits even at opening time, and a worrying lack of care when equipment failed during a steep downhill ride.[interlaken-tickets +5] Switzerland is full of well-run mountain experiences where staff are friendly, proactive, and safety‑conscious. Grindelwald First, on the day we visited, was the complete opposite. I would not recommend this place, especially for families, unless and until they improve their staffing, communication, and basic safety standards

Starting at Grindelward the weather was overcast and by the time we were half way up it started to snow. At the top was snowing fairly heavily which made the lookout useless as you couldn’t see anything. The ski season was closed but every5ing was cover with snow and ice which ment you couldn’t walk the trails so there was little to see or do. That being said we’re still glad we spent the money ( it’s pretty pricey). My wife loved it as she likes snow and the little we could see was lovely. There is a restaurant there which is very expensive with both self service food and drink, a bar and a seperate restaurant area with a dining room. Even in off season it was very busy and hard to find a seat. The gondola ride stops at two stations on the way up and down. One the way down you can get off and hire a bike from one to the other and then a go cart (no engine) to the next station. If you go to 5e official JUNGFRAU website you can see the different ways to come down the mountain and pre book them. Even though the top of the mountain was busy the gondolas move people quickly. You can buy tickets outside the gondola station at the base at a vending machine if you haven’t booked online. The official online website was giving a discount on the tickets so it was the cheapest was to purchase.

Hugely expensive-but a nice long ride up with little waiting time at either end. The view are genuinely breathtaking with the snow covered Eiger and other tall mountains -with the dark green forests and the verdant alp. Plenty of space to ramble around at the top and well developed paths between stations. There are well organised offers to ride scouters /trolleys down between the stations and more extreme rides for the brave. Cafes are OK. Sounds like it could be a bit tacky buts its not. Outstanding except the price

This was by far the best thing we did. We got there right around when it opened and there were very little lines. We stayed until about 1:30. It got busy but everything that needed a line we did first thing so it was perfect. Highly recommend!

Beautiful scenery. It was a little less breathtaking than I imagined but really nice. I imagine that Mount Pilatus would have been a better choice but didn’t get the chance to go.

We loved our day at Grindelwald First. We parked in the Terminal car park and got the free shuttle bus (The bus is number 121 and is directly outside of the car park pedestrian exit to the right - do not go into the terminal building - it is not well signposted) The bus dropped us a short walk from the entrance, we scanned our tickets and got straight on to a cable car - no queuing at all! We went all the way to the top and completed the cliff walk first. We waited probably 10 minutes to get a photo at the edge. We then got back on the cable car and stopped at Bort for the children's playground (a real hit in the snow!) The food at the restaurant looked good although we took our own picnic. We then jumped back on the cable car and headed back down to the village for a wander. All in all, I would highly recommend. The views with snow are stunning, it is like another world! Perhaps going at the end of ski season is a way to avoid the crowds? We visited on 02 April. We arrived at Grindelwald at 9am and left at around 3pm. We didn't do any of the extra paid activities - you can enjoy the views without! It may seem expensive but in my opinion, it was worth every penny. We booked around 3 days in advance after checking the weather - clear skies are vital!

We were very lucky and had a clear, sunny day so the views were incredible. I would 100% recommend this trip but definitely check the forecast first.
