  My boyfriend and I booked the Premium Tour (boat cruise, lunch, two winery tours and tastings, viewpoint stop, and train station visit) with his parents, who were born and raised in Portugal before moving to the United States. All four of us absolutely loved it. One of the highlights was seeing how much my boyfriend’s father enjoyed the experience. As someone already familiar with Portuguese wine and culture, he loved discussing wine with the guides and learning even more about the region’s history, winemaking process, and traditions. Every guide we encountered was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. A special thank you to Crispin (van guide), Diogo and Kalil (boat guides), as well as the guides at Croft and Formigosa, whose names I unfortunately can’t remember. The quintas were beautiful, the wines were excellent, and lunch was delicious. We were genuinely surprised by how much was included for the price. From start to finish, the day was incredibly well organized, relaxing, and enjoyable. I had a smile on my face the entire time.   This all day Douro Valley experience was excellent and great value, highly recommended. Our river boat trip on 17th June with Ivo & Bruno was fun and informative, very enjoyable. Our tour guide for the two Quinta trips was Simon who was very welcoming, spoke good English to share his knowledge about the Port, Wine & region. Plenty wine and port sampling, a good local lunch, a visit to Pinhao train station and a view point above the valley. A busy but brilliant day, definitely recommend booking with Douro Tours - very friendly staff, very well organised and value for money.

  We had an incredible day exploring the Douro Valley with Simon on the Premium Tour from Pinhao with Douro Tours. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, informative, and enjoyable. The day began with a beautiful river cruise through the stunning Douro Valley, followed by a visit to a Quinta where we enjoyed an excellent tour and wine tasting. Simon shared fascinating insights about the region, its history, and winemaking traditions throughout the day. Lunch at Taberna da Ponte was delicious and authentic, featuring local specialties, including breaded hake, fresh salad, tomato rice, and a wonderful port cake dessert. We then visited another winery for a port wine tour and tasting before finishing the day at the breathtaking Miradouro Casal de Loivos viewpoint. Every stop was thoughtfully chosen and showcased the best of the Douro. Simon was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about the region. He made everyone feel welcome and ensured the day ran seamlessly. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal, and we would highly recommend Simon and Douro Tours to anyone visiting the Douro Valley.

  It was a fantastic tour, with Ivo and Sergio guiding us on an unforgettable journey through the wonderful slopes of Pinhão. It was very enriching to know all the information about this area, to taste Porto wine and laugh with the lively comments of the guide Ivo. I loved and recommend!!!

  Douro Tours combines various tour modules to build the tour programme purchased. Hence, the first leg of our tour - a 50 minute river cruise - was with a number of other people and with a different guide to the later parts of the tour. Bruno was obviously knowledgeable, a very informative and personable guide, maintaining a flowing commentary in fluent English and French. An excellent beginning to a seven hour day. We then transferred to two eight seater vans, one English-speaking and one French-speaking, for our first vineyard visit, commencing with probably a 20 minute drive. We were shown different vine planting and training techniques, and the growing cycle was explained, together with the almost symbiotic roles of olive and orange trees and rose bushes. There was ample opportunity for photography of both the vineyard and the stupendous views. We then adjourned to the tasting centre to sample one each white and red wines, and one port wine. There was ample time to get to know our agreeable fellow visitors and to exchange opinions of the wines sampled. Both vans then returned to the tour meeeting point where all but two of other fellow tourists left for other tours. We and the other two were then taken to a typical Portuguese restaurant for lunch - the main course choice between pan-fired pork pork and pan-fried hake (ocean fish) both with accompanying sides. Dessert was a very moist cake flavoured with cinnamon. We then departed for the second wine tour, dedicated to port, picking up two other couples. The format was similar to the morning tour, with equally clear explanations and plenty of photographic opportunities. At this vineyards visitor centred we tasted three styles of port and again had ample opportunity to chat. We then drove to the highest local viewpoint with tremendous panoramas, often rated high in world rankings. After dropping off the four who had most recently joined us, our final visit was to Pinhão railway station, decorated with wonderful pictures constructed with traditional blue tiles and showing everyday scenes in the early-mid 20th century. Our guide through the land tours was Simon, full of local knowledge and clearly extremely proud of "our valley". Simon was very friendly, expressed himself clearly in perfect English, and left us eminently satisfied with every aspect of the tour.
