In the course of researching our trip to Italy in March 2026, we were fortunate to work with Helena Kyriakides, and her company Yummy Italy. She was able to explain and suggest solutions to our inability to book a hotel. We had unknowingly selected the week of the largest conference Bologna hosts. Happily by switching dates our visit was saved and we stayed in the lovely Casa Bertagni. Casa Bertagni was quiet, centrally located, and very willing to help us with anything. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. Helena worked with us on planning questions as well. We scheduled with her a terrific day-long trip to a parmesan co-op, a balsamic attic, and a wonderful lunch at a beautiful vineyard with lots of product samples. The next day we had a market, bakery, and wine store tour. We had more than enough sampling for both breakfast and lunch. Finally she was able to solve the question of where to eat dinner by helping us select restaurants and making reservations for us. The osterias and trattorias were exactly the type of restaurants we wanted and we enjoyed some amazing meals. We also took the train to Ravenna and had a food & mosaic tour with Taste of Bologna. The train was easy to use, took about an hour from Bologna and they met us at the station. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. In Florence, we were extremely lucky to have the guidance and expertise of The Florence Insider and its owner Claudia Vannucci. She was able to help us organize the multitude of places and things we wanted to do in addition to suggesting restaurants, hotels and best days & times for organizing our trip. We had the splurge of staying at Brunelleschi Hotel The Brunelleschi is beautiful and very luxurious. The breakfasts were amazing and most nights we had a nightcap at their bar. A huge shout out to the bartenders. We took a walking tour upon our arrival in Florence with Claudia. She provided a variety of osterias and trattorias that we loved and we enjoyed a wide variety of Florentine and Italian specialities. We did take a Wine Window and Progressive Dinner with Curious Appetite and finally a day Chianti Tour with De Gustibus. All of these small tours and guides provided additional personal facets to our trip. They are all highly recommended and we would use them again without reservation.
