Ravenna: a treasure of the Mediterranean: A hidden world of mosaics and underground crypts, the absolute pearl of art of Emilia Romagna region.
Several populations estabilished on the sandy Adriatic coast. This endless territory of marsh, wetlands, lagoons, swamps, despite being partially unhealthy, turned out to be the perfect shelter for a craddle of civilization. The pines of the coast started to be exploited by romans to build their undefeatable fleet.
Our tour will be as rich in detail and complete as possible, in order to let you dive into this golden age, and let you travel back in time with your mind and your senses.

We will begin the visit with the church of San Vitale and its mosaics. This is not just the most important byzantine monument in the World, and dut to that a milestone of Unesco heritage, it is a mystic trip as well. It is a trip into the early middle age, and accross a huge book of mosaics and little gems.
Battistero Neoniano (Battistero degli Ortodossi)
Another Byzantine pearl, and Unesco site, it is famous for its mixture of marbles, mosaics, and sculptures; a unique ensemble of late Roman, Roman, Persian, Greek, and barbarian art.

5.00Riccardo is an excellent tour guide! He is knowledgeable and passionate about the local history and really enjoys sharing it with others. The mosaics in Ravenna are superb - a hidden gem! Riccardo was very generous with his time and easily accommodated last minute changes (including crazy traffic!). Highly recommend taking his Ravenna tour and any of the Bologna tours Riccardo offers! Wish I planned more time in Bologna, really enjoyed the day with Riccardo as a guide, he’s great!

5.00Riccardo KNOWS this city-the art, the architect and its history! Fabulous tour. He went above and beyond to assure we were able to see everything we wanted in the (unfortunate) short time we stayed in Bologna! We will come back and ask him for one of his other tours! Highly recommended!
