This experience gives you the freedom to explore Ferragudo from the water, without joining a guided group.
The route starts on the calm Arade River, close to our shop, making it easy and accessible even for beginners. You can enjoy views of Ferragudo village, São João do Arade Fort, Praia Grande and quiet river beaches at your own pace.
When sea conditions allow, the adventure can continue towards the ocean, passing Pintadinho Beach, Ponta do Altar Lighthouse and a beautiful sea cave with crystal-clear water.
Before you start, our team will explain the route, safety rules and local tips, so you can enjoy a safe and independent kayak or SUP experience in Ferragudo.

Choose between a kayak or a SUP board and explore at your own pace. Before you leave, our team will give you a route briefing, safety information and local tips. The route begins on the Arade River, ideal for beginners, families or anyone looking for a relaxed paddling experience. From the water, enjoy views of Ferragudo and São João do Arade Fort. Stop at Praia Grande for a drink or snack, or take a break on one of the quieter river beaches. If sea conditions are suitable, you may continue towards the ocean, passing Pintadinho Beach, Ponta do Altar Lighthouse and a beautiful sea cave with crystal-clear water and dramatic Algarve cliffs. Kayaks are suitable for up to 2 people (max.170kg). SUP boards are for one person only. Life vests are included and are mandatory. Please note : access to the ocean and sea cave depends on sea conditions, including wind, waves and tides. Before departure, our team will let you know if it is possible and advisable to continue towards the ocean. The river route is calmer and more sheltered, making it a great option when the ocean part is not recommended. This is a self-guided experience, not a guided tour.

Brilliant kayak hire with a personal touch

5.00We hired two kayaks this morning from the lovely team at Flow, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They were really responsive on WhatsApp and kindly reserved the kayaks for us in advance. When we arrived, they provided everything we needed — a clear map, phone holders, water bags, and all the safety gear — and even helped us down to the water’s edge, which is right by their shop. It has such a friendly, family feel, and you can tell how proud they are of their business — and rightly so! If we’re ever back this way, we’ll definitely be returning. Thanks so much!

5.00We had a fantastic experience with this lovely small business in Ferragudo, run by two super friendly and helpful young women. They offer kayak, stand-up paddle board, and bicycle rentals – perfect for exploring the beautiful coastline and countryside around Ferragudo. Everything was well organized and easy from start to finish. The equipment was in great condition, and they gave us great tips on where to go and what to see. It really felt personal and welcoming – so much better than dealing with a big rental company! Highly recommended if you’re looking for a relaxed, local experience with great service. We’ll definitely be back!

5.00A sup board rented on the last day of our holiday. Got a good explanation. Board, paddle, pump in backpack of very good quality. Complete with life jacket and waterproof bag for your phone etc. Went to Playa Grande and had a wonderful day. If we had done this earlier in the holiday, we would have rented a board much more often and we would have gone for the bikes as well. If we are around again, we will definitely be back! Super friendly nice lady who arranges everything for you quickly.

5.00What an awesome shop! The team helped me plan when was best to come for a self guided tour on the SUPs. Check in was smooth and easy. Great reco on where to go based on our experiance level. The equipment was in very good shape. I love the live chat feature too...recommended not to come on a specific day because the winds were going to make for a harder paddle. Will come back to rent bikes and scooters for the kids when we return.

5.00We rented SUP and they gave us the best tour we could possible imagine. In a trip of 12 days, we did two trips. Hope to be back next summer do visit more things. They are two locals that know all the good places.

5.00Amazing company and service. We stumbled upon this shop when out walking and went in to enquire about tours. Unfortunately the tours had finished for the season as it was winter so we enquired about renting bikes instead to cycle to portimao the following day. Excellent service - we turned up the next morning, and were given everything we would need including phone holder, helmets and bike locks all we had to do was pay and that was it! super easy and super friendly girls that served us. They showed us the best routes too for cycling off road! We loved it so much that we returned another day to rent e-scooters (very fun) and again were given everything we needed. Ended up staying out later then planned so sent a simple whatsapp message and we confirmed a later return time within minutes- super handy. Would really recommend, next time we are back, we will make sure to try the tours too!
