Kerikeri River Track

Track is part of Te Araroa trail NZ length of country 3000 km walk. Follows the northern bank of the river through regenerating native forest, featuring several points of interest: Wharepuke Falls: Located about 20–30 minutes from the Stone Store, these 5-metre falls are wide and picturesque, often featuring a popular swimming hole at the base. Historic Power House: You'll pass the remains of Kerikeri’s first hydroelectric station (built in 1930). You can still see the restored turbine and generator. The Fairy Pools: A tranquil, shaded area with a seating bench, perfect for a picnic or a quiet break by the water. Rainbow Falls, The climax of the walk. There are three viewing platforms offering different perspectives of the 27-metre drop. A side track also leads down to the base of the falls. Also before or after we go the 30 minute walk to Charles waterfall. No listed as an attraction on via Tour.

Puketi Nature Trail

Easy 1 Hour 1;6km loop walk in Mature Kauri forest. After dinner we can go out at night time with torchs, into forest staying on path and look for glowworms and kiwis who emerge at night time.

Whangarei Quarry Gardens

Lush 24-hectare subtropical oasis built within the remnants of a former stone quarry. Now a botanically diverse sanctuary featuring rare plants, waterfalls, and historic ruins. The garden's unique bowl shape and stone walls create a sheltered microclimate that traps heat and moisture, allowing a vast array of frost-sensitive plants to thrive. "Garden of Excellence" camellia collection, including over 200 varieties and many rare fragrant cultivars. The landscape still bears traces of its history as a hard-rock quarry, which operated from 1940 to 1974. These remnants have been integrated into the garden's design to create a sense of discovery. Explore old concrete foundations, steel fittings, and historic tunnels that are now open to the public. The site features a large lake fed by two waterfalls, one of which is 40 meters high, flowing into a rocky stream crossed by footbridges. The regenerating native forest is home to local birds such as tui, kukupa (wood pigeon), and kingfishers.
