Discover Himeji, home to Japan's most magnificent castle, on a relaxed private tour with your own government-licensed guide and private vehicle. Crowned by the dazzling white keep of UNESCO World Heritage Himeji Castle, the city rewards visitors with far more than its famous landmark. Wander the elegant Edo-period gardens of Koko-en, ride a ropeway to the thousand-year-old mountain temple of Engyo-ji on Mount Shosha, take in sweeping castle views from Senhime Tenmangu and Otokoyama, and taste local sake at a historic brewery. With a private vehicle you reach hillside temples and viewpoints that are hard to visit by public transport.
Once your reservation is made, your guide will contact you to plan a personalized itinerary. Choose 3 to 4 spots from 'Tour Details' to visit. Not sure where to go? Ask your guide for recommendations. We look forward to showing you Himeji!

Himeji Castle
Himeji Castle is Japan's most spectacular original castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, widely regarded as the finest surviving example of Japanese castle architecture. Nicknamed the "White Heron Castle" for its brilliant white plastered walls and elegant, soaring form, the hilltop complex of interconnected keeps, gates, and defensive corridors dates largely from 1609 and survived the centuries and wartime bombing intact. Visitors climb through the six-story main keep and enjoy sweeping views over the castle town.
Koko-en
Koko-en is an elegant Japanese garden complex laid out in 1992 on the former site of the feudal lord's west residence, just beside Himeji Castle. It comprises nine separate walled gardens in Edo-period styles, including a tranquil pond garden with a waterfall and koi, a tea ceremony garden, a bamboo grove, and a pine garden, with the white keep of Himeji Castle rising beautifully in the background. A traditional teahouse serves matcha overlooking the water.
