Your morning priority ticket gets you through the entrance in peak season between 10:00 and 12:00 - the best time to visit.

Cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and the golden morning light make for experiences and photos that afternoon visitors simply don't get. Once inside, there is lots of activities to chose from; Walk through magnificently preserved royal halls filled with original furnishings, tapestries, and armour dating back to the 1500s, join a guided tour included in your ticket, see the temporary exhibitions, climb to the castle ramparts for panoramic views over Kalmar Sound and the surrounding city and join the many medieval activities for children.

Kalmar Castle

CNN has named Kalmar Castle one of the most beautiful castles in the world - and once you see it, you'll understand why! Since the first stones were laid 800 years ago, it has survived to this day. Redesigned in the 16th century by the Vasa kings, Kalmar Castle is Sweden's best-preserved Renaissance castle and one of the country's most dramatic historic landmarks. This is where Queen Margaret forged the Kalmar Union in 1397 and where centuries of Scandinavian history come alive in remarkable detail. Your admission also includes access to the Children's Castle – a unique family experience where children can meet knights, dress as princesses, complete medieval challenges and take part in activities throughout the castle.
