The Kelleys Island Treasure Tour begins and ends at the Kelleys Island State Park kayak launch, where the wide, open water of Lake Erie stretches out like a sparkling path waiting to be explored. A friendly guide meets the group, helps everyone get comfortable in a kayak and with a life jacket, and gives a quick, confidence-boosting lesson on paddling and safety.
When everyone is ready, you push off from shore and glide out onto the lake, following the guide across rolling waves toward two hidden island “treasures,” special state park sites you can reach by water. At each stop, you hop out to explore, climb around, and discover the area's unique features.
After visiting both treasures, you paddle back across the lake, stronger and more confident than when you started. The whole adventure takes about two hours, with the guide by your side the entire way to keep you safe and share exciting facts about the island.

Kelleys Island State Park
We start at the Kelleys Island State Park Kayak launch, with beautiful views of the North Bay, the beach and rock pier. After getting comfortable in the kayaks we paddle out of the bay and around to the North shore.
Kelleys Island State Park
After leaving North Bay, we paddle along the beautiful North shore line for about 15 minutes to the Alvar State Preserve. Here we stop and explore this rare habitat finding fossils and glacial erratics while learning about island history. We board the kayaks again and paddle to our next adventure.

5.00We had a great time. Our guide, Dawn, was very informative and had a wealth of knowledge concerning the habitat all around Lake Erie. We had never been kayaking before and she gave us a wonderful introduction to the experience. We will do this again. The only down side was the flies were biting because it was so humid.

5.00Our tour guide Dawn was phenomenal, a lots of fun with an unlimited knowledge of the history of the islands, of the different species living there, of the different rocks and then some. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Dawn has so much passion for what she does. Thank you Dawn for a wonderful afternoon. We will be back, you spoiled us! Marguerite,

Failed kayak trip

1.00Our family booked the kayak for 3:30pm and arrived for the kayak tour and could not locate anyone at the location as instructed to be at. We contacted the number given several times with no answer, left several voicemails…..eventually 20 minutes after our trip was to begin we received a call back to just be told our trip was canceled. The excuse was the wind was too high causing the current on the lake to be too dangerous. This trip was booked at 10:15am and there was plenty enough time given for someone to contact us before to cancel before wasting an entire day on our vacation. We had to catch a ferry and pay for that round trip for three people, plus the ferrying of our vehicle….all to have the excuse be from the tour guide be….i meant to call earlier, I had no phone service and then I forgot to call when I did get service. Very unpleasant, unprofessional and no sense of empathy. To make matters worse this trip was $165.00 and we were promised to get a full refund by the tour guide which we have yet still to receive. The bank is now handling the issue as it has been over a week and we have been unable to make contact with whoever this tour guide is since that day we were canceled on.

5.00Great water and nature tour. Our lakes have a lot more nature than most realize. We had a weather change and it made the tour exciting, and memorable. Everything you need is ready to go, so no need to transport any supplies to the Island.

5.00Dawn was very knowledgeable about the island. It was very interesting to hear about the local ecosystem. We also enjoyed kayaking considering it was our first time. It was a great way to see the island in such a lovely setting. We recommend this tour highly!
