See the valley like never before, with paths, geysers and landscapes illuminated in a spectrum of light. Journey from the depths of darkness into the world of light as Mārama amplifies the beauty of our geothermal wonderland.
This hosted, carefully curated outdoor night-time walking experience blends storytelling, artistry and sound. The soundscapes drawn from Te Puia itself woven together with original music from our own artists, guides you from the entrance, past interactive artworks, and into the valley.
Enjoy a refreshment (available for purchase) while taking in views of the magnificent Pōhutu Geyser.
Allow around 60 minutes to explore this 1.5km track at your own pace. Please note: some visual effects may be intense and could cause discomfort for guests with light sensitivity or motion sickness. Comfortable footwear and warm clothing is recommended. Due to unpaved paths, this is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.

From the depths of darkness and emerging into the world of light, our natural landscapes are amplified by Mārama. A hosted, carefully curated immersive lighting and outdoor walking experience. Let the melody of Maisey Rika, the collaborative sound of the experience, move you from the festival-like entrance, past the interactive artworks and down the valley through differing scene experiences. See the valley like you’ve never seen it before, with paths and geysers illuminated in a spectrum of light. Exiting through Pikirangi Village, having one final farewell to our very own Mārama lighting our night sky. Guests should allow around 90 minutes to fully enjoy Mārama. The experience runs Wednesday to Sunday, with gates open for four hours each evening and final entry available up to one hour before closing.

3.00Walk to the geyser was a little disappointing and the geyser was actually harder to see because of the lights. It was majestic but hard to distinguish the water from the steam. Hot rocks seating was cool!!

3.00the course is badly bent compared to all the other attractions in the area. Extensive use is made of laser lighting, which often means that the relief concerned is not seen. It's not a must do

5.00Friendly, helpful staff who explained everything well and who were located at various points throughout the trail. It helped make the trail feel safe and secure. Wonderful light show that highlighted the geothermal area. Enjoyed being able to go at your own pace and enjoy the experience.

4.00The staff at Marama, Te Puia were welcoming and helpful. The evening was beautiful. The lights were amazing. We even got to see one of the geysers in action. A very enjoyable evening out. Well worth the trip.

5.00Absolutely amazing, highly recommend for all ages. A phenomenal experience, alot of planning has gone into this show making what is already a magical piece of nature into something even more extraordinary. Just my husband and I went while in Rotorua celebrating our birthdays and wedding anniversary but plan on bringing more of our whānau here. 10/10 100% recommend this visit if you are in Rotorua, it is totally worth every cent and we were tired before attending the 9.45pm session but were totally energised by this beautiful blend of nature and light. ka mau te wehi !

4.00Takes about an hour to go around possibly more if the Geyser erupts. Luckily we did have chance to see it albeit I think it would have been disappointing had we not done so
