This activity has been designed by a local ‘expert’, who has created a fun experience that takes you to some of the town’s highlights and the lesser-known places, away from all the tourists. The puzzles are designed to help you experience the place from a different perspective – using landmarks, murals, statues etc - and you’ll even learn some ‘fun facts’ along the way.
The self-guided aspect of your activity means that you can rush through as fast as you like or stop for a drink or something to eat as you like. The app remembers your progress and even allows you to complete your Adventure Hunt another day.
This activity aims to strike a fun balance between challenging puzzles, a fun outing with friends and family, and a pleasant walk around outside.

Olhao Adventure Hunt is an interactive experience that combines elements of scavenger hunts, treasure trails, walking tours, and escape rooms. Think of it as a self-guided puzzle walk – blending sightseeing with problem-solving, turning a simple walk into an engaging and inspiring experience. Step into the heart of Olhão and uncover its secrets on a fun, self-guided walking adventure. Using the Adventure Hunt app (available on Android and iPhone), you’ll follow clues, solve puzzles, and uncover fascinating fun facts as you go — with helpful hints available whenever you need them. A Journey Through Culture, History, and Coastal Charm Starting and ending at the ferry dock, this 2km circular walk guides you around the labyrinthine lanes of the Fishermen’s Quarter, through the pretty pedestrianised shopping area, and along the scenic waterfront. Along the way, you’ll discover hidden squares with sculptures revealing legendary tales of the town, huge murals illustrating Olhao’s fishing heritage, and cafes overlooking the Ria Formosa lagoon. With 19 stops along the route, the experience takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.

5.00This is our third treasure hunt with the same people and was brilliant. Alvor and Lagos were great too. We’d never been to Olhao so having a treasure hunt to do here at the same time was an added bonus. So much more fun rather than just walking up and down streets looking at shops. The fun facts and information about the area and hidden monuments were very interesting and we would never have found all the little backstreets and small squares on our own. Loved all the puzzles as they really got you thinking. We love the way you’re able to pause the treasure hunt when you feel like it and resume in the same place. We stopped off for drinks and custard tarts mid morning and then again to stop for lunch by the waterfront. Having the treasure hunt start and stop at the ferry terminal is very central and right by an easy to access car park if you’ve driven. Thank you for a great day out :)

5.00This is our second Adventure Hunt (we did Luz before) and this one was even better! If you’ve never been to Olhao before, it’s a great way of getting to know the town. We found ourselves wandering the maze of tiny backstreets looking for hidden statues and then around the old fish factories to see some brilliant murals. As well as having fun and scratching our brains doing the puzzles, we also learned loads about the history of the place; lots of interesting stories. Also recommend the ferries to the islands. We made a day of it, did the hunt in the morning, grabbed some lunch on the seafront – there’s loads of fab places to eat, then got the afternoon ferry across to Culatra. Super cheap and great views from the top deck. Fabulous day overall!!!
