After admiring the Chiaravalle della Colomba Abbey, founded in 1135 and still inhabited by monks, and its evocative cloister, we move on to Castell'Arquato, a medieval village that holds exciting discoveries and overlooks a spotless landscape, where the gaze wanders over woods, gullies, vineyards and some isolated houses. A third generation organic wine producer who has always observed the best principles of production of organic, biodynamic, natural and vegan wines, awaits us on the slopes of Val D'Arda, characterized by clear soils, rich in marine fossils, which Leonardo da Vinci also spoke of in the Codex Leicester in 1482. The visit to the vineyards and cellar is followed by a tasting of 5 wines accompanied by artisanal cured meats, cheeses, honey, homemade bread, dessert and coffee. The day ends in the hamlet of Vigoleno with a special tasting of Vin Santo, one of the smallest DOC wines in Italy, still produced following ancient techniques handed down orally from father to son.

5.00This experience in the Colli Piacentini was a wonderful discovery for my whole group! We enjoyed the day in total relaxation, also thanks to our guide Michelle who was really engaging and easygoing. Walking in the streets of Castell’Arquato and Vigoleno makes you unplug and the photos do not do justice to the beauty of these villages, not to mention the Vin Santo we tasted in Vigoleno, a real treat. The highlight of the tour was the visit to the organic winery. Wines of great sophistication accompanied by meats and artisan cheeses of the highest quality, which exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back!

5.00Truly original and well structured experience, with the right mix of history, art and food. Our guide Michelle was exceptional, she made us admire the wonders of the Abbey of Chiaravalle enchanting us with its history, then we continued our journey through time in the charming village of Castell’Arquato, and at that point it was time to satisfy even the palate with a tasting of wines and local cold cuts that define excellent is reductive! Ending the day tasting Vin Santo di Vigoleno was the icing on the cake of this exciting day. I recommend it to anyone who loves history, food, wine and authentic and non-touristy places!

5.00Michelle is an amazing tour guide and this tour is one of a kind! From the visits to beautiful medieval villages to the delicious organic wine tasting and food pairings at small producers, this is a wonderful way to meet people from and learn about the delicacies and history of Emilia Romagna. Highly recommend!
