Sirmione is considered the pearl of Garda district: it stands on a spectacular position, on a thin peninsula extending from the southern shores of the lake and ending northwards with rocky cliffs, carved by the ruins of a huge Roman villa.
This private tour will allow you to enjoy, in a few hours, the art beauties and the gastronomic amenities of this enchanting village: a short and pleasant cruise will take you around the cape, in colse view of the so called "Grotte di Catullo" and the majestic medieval fortress built by the Veronese family Della Scala. Sirmione
The small, charming village stands in an iconic position, on a peninsula extending for four kilometers from the southern coast of lake Garda. The town centre is guarded by the Rocca Scaligera, a majestic fortress built during the Veronese domination of Sirmione, in the 13th and 14th century. Nowadays, Sirmione is a popular tourist site due to its thermal barths and archeological remains, dating back to the Roman age.
Castello Scaligero
Built between the 13th and 14th century by the Veronese family Della Scala, the fortress stood as a defensive hub for Sirmione, which was exposed to frequent aggressions due to its border position, and may have taken advantage of the site of a pristine Roman stronghold. A fortified basin was built shorty after, to offer a shelter to battleships.

5.00Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We started with a boat ride where she told us about many structures and shared a lot of historical information. Then we took a nice walk along the water and visited some churches, and finally had some wine, cheeses, and meats. She also shared with us one of her favorite restaurants in Venice so we can visit there when we go next week. Would recommend!
