We offer scenic riding tours on the beautiful black sand beaches of Vík, South Iceland.
Our Black Beach Riding Tour is an easy-going one hour ride perfectly suited for beginners and people who don’t go horse riding often, but we welcome riders of all abilities. Our horses are friendly and sure-footed, perfect to enjoy the wild Icelandic terrain. In the summer there is a chance to spot puffins flying above us, and in winter the ever-changing weather highlights the rugged beauty of the landscape.
The tours are mostly at walking speed, but for those who are capable there is the chance to try some tölt, the special gait of the Icelandic horse.
Please note we have a weight limit of 100kg / 220lb, and riders must be aged 10+. We are committed to the welfare of our horses and reserve the right to ask riders to step on a scale. We ask you to arrive at the stable 15 minutes before departure.

What To Expect
Our stable is the start and ending point for our horseback rides. The ride will lead us along our local black sand beaches at Vík í Mýrdal, called Víkurfjara. Minimum age 10 years, maximum weight 100kg/220lb, unfortunately no pregnant people can ride. We reserve the right to ask riders to step on a scale.

5.00My husband and I had a great time! He had never ridden a horse before and the staff, and his horse, "Queen," all took great care of him. Our guides were friendly and also gave us great suggestions about things to see in the area and restaurants to try. We both had a blast and the horses were amazing!

5.00It was the first time on horses for most of our family and the children. The guides did a wonderful job and everyone had a lovely time. Riding out on to the black sand beaches offered great views. They helped to make this a approachable experience even for beginners and gave us a new appreciation for Horse riding. Nice activity in Vik.

2.00I realized the evening before (Tuesday) that I had booked the wrong date - totally my fault! I messaged the company asking if we could reschedule until Thursday with the full expectation of needing to pay again. Wednesday morning they messaged back saying they were booked Thursday but to call early Thursday morning in case there were cancellations. I could see online Thursday morning there was one opening and several openings on Viator & TripAdvisor for both Friday & Saturday. When called, they denied any openings & said there were no cancellations. Getting off the phone, I looked and still saw several openings Friday & Saturday. My partner was heartbroken. I don't understand why they would want to lie & will take my future business elsewhere!
