Constructed in 1569-70, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun’s Tomb is the tomb of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun. The mausoleum is the finest example of Mughal architecture. The Historic Fort in Old Delhi was the seat of power for many centuries. Constructed in the 17th century by Mughals, Red Fort has witnessed the rise and fall of many empires. Many of the structures inside the fort complex were demolished by the British when the fort was used as a garrison. Every year on India's Independence Day (15 August), the Prime Minister hoists the Indian tricolor flag at the fort's main gate and delivers a nationally broadcast speech from its ramparts. You shall pass by this massive fort and instead visit Fort in Agra which is in a much better state of preservation and is a replica of the Red Fort in Delhi.
