Akagera National Park
Our driver guide will pick you from your hotel in Kigali at 05h0 Am, short briefing, and then drive to the eastern part of Rwanda to Akagera National Park ( the drive lasts 2 hours). Akagera National Park offers a truly exceptional wildlife experience, and it is the only Big-five reserve in Rwanda. Akagera comprises some of the most scenic savannah in East Africa - open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamp, and grassy low mountains - and is home to one of Africa's highest hippo densities, large crocodiles as well as the rare Sitatunga and more than 520 bird species. Teeming with plains game, Akagera also boasts a healthy population of lion and black rhino. Guests will be able to view a range of wildlife on expertly-guided game drive, including buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, hippo, giraffe, spotted hyena, zebra, topi, eland, zebra, impala, warthogs, and hundred bird species such as the rare and elusive stork shoebill with its implausibly massive bill and near -endemic red-faced barbet.

5.00We had a great day with Jean Claude at Akagera National Park. The scenery was stunning and we saw a lot of animals in spite of the rain (which only made it more adventurous!). I highly recommend Vazquez Tours & Travel!

5.00Had an amazing safari at Akagera park with Vazquez Tours at Akagera. Our guide, Claude, made the whole trip smooth and comfortable and knew all the right areas to spot wildlife - saw a majestic lion early morning (definitely the highlight),hippos, zebras & antilopes grazing around and elephants up close. Definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting the park.

4.00This was one of those "bucket list" tours. I was in Rwanda for a conference, and went along with some of the other delegates. Very difficult to identify any negatives. The driver/guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we saw such a wide range of wildlife up close it was unreal. I think the most impressive was the male elephant who casually strolled out in front of us, completely unfazed by the humans in the large 4x4 behind him. Large numbers of giraffe congregated at one point, saw some lions doing what lions do - lazing in the sun, not unlike how my old cat used to do back home! Zebra, Rhino, Hippo, all made an appearance. The roads in the national park can be a bit bumpy in places, and I would recommend taking a camera, say a digital SLR so you can get the longer range shots that just are not the same as using a smart phone, as the SLR will have a better zoom. There is a well known saying, that if you think education is expensive, try ignorance. This trip couldn't be described as bargain basement, but it was certainly one that I wouldn't have missed for the world, and I'm so glad to have been there!

5.00This trip was one of the most memorable in my life. The communication from the booking process all the way to being picked up from our hotel in Kigali was really good. The guide was caring and knowledgeable and he made sure that we saw as much wild animals as possible.

5.00This was a fantastic trip. Our guide and driver Mr Charif did everything he could to ensure the safari experience went above and beyond our expectations! From the first email we had constant clear and professional communication with the company and our allotted guide's enthusiasm for Rwanda, its people and wildlife was infectious and heart-warming. Booking with Vazquez Tours & Travel ensured a fabulous introduction to Rwanda and I will not forget it.

5.00The guide, Phillipe, arrived at my hotel on time and everything was seamless throughout. Phillipe was extremely knowledgeable and communicated with other guides throughout the day to ensure I saw as much game as possible, including the Big 5. I have no hesitation recommending this company.
