Absolutely incredible and heartwarming experience. We left Armenia amused after such a great day trip. The guide Kat was outstanding and made of this an unforgettable trip. She provided us with so much interesting information, helped us with all the passport procesa and was always there as a fantastic company. Thank you so much! The food by an Armenian family was excellent (we were able to taste the pure national hospitality) and the monasteries are stunning. Would definitely do it again, it was amazing. Very recommendable.

Seeing the monasteries was a privilege and an inspiration. Our Armenian guide was brilliant and gave us their perspective on all that history had thrown at her people. This was quite simply an excellent tour.

This is one of the best day trips we have done. The length of the trip was about right and our guide Gvantsa, was knowledgeable and able to explain everything in an interesting way. We were only 4 people and the vehicle was really comfortable. The scenery was amazing and the ancient monasteries and churches gave us a real insight into the history of Christianity in Armenia. An added bonus was the delicious lunch we were served in a local home. I highly recommend this tour and the company Envoy Toiurs

This was a very beautiful day. A very good guide and driver. We got so much information and nice places to visit. The food was very good, also to vegetariens:) So after this day we where happy and satisfied. We where a group on 8 persons from around the world:) The only thing that was sad was that there is many stray dogs along the road and places. Many look healthy but not everyone. We got chance to change money to Armenien money. I will recommend to do that. There was some beautiful sellers ( not many) . And it can be good to support the people. Its a poor country . Thank you for this day:)

The trip was very well organised especially as we had two border crossings to deal with. Our guide was exceptional and really made the whole day for us. She had a huge amount of energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of the sites and the country. Lunch with a local family was amazing making this a great trip during our stay.

Do not hesitate to join this trip.Coming to Georgia was my awaited dream, but seeing upper Armenia was my goal.I was not disappointed , thanks to the usual reliance and efficiency of Viator. I have been travelling overseas for 59 years .Time groweth short. I google -earth in everything pre-travel for rekkies, for fun, go down to ground level, look at the terrain, buildings and roads, and extrapolate if this is something i am in to.Thus and then I very much wanted to see upper Armenia , the country , monasteries offered, see a few folks and get out of a city.Viator seems to never fail in linking you to folks who show up and off you go.... There were several who had cancelled this trip I learned, but when I showed up there was a young beautiful Japanese lady, a solo traveller like myself, and Keto our Georgian guide and Goga, our most excellent driver. An hour and a half later after leaving Tbilisi and out and up to the higher regions north, the pleasure of the dual passport controls at the border checkpoints was an adventure in itself. Soon the panoply of Ahktala, Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries revealed itself amidst quiet mountainous settings with solemn whispers, as it were, of ancient times, 1000 years ago when the people then were quite isolated in their faith. The stonework construction ( I am a lifetime- now - retired builder) and views of this high country were all astounding. The spring flowers were out, friendly , sleepy dogs a- plenty lying in the sun, and weather was perfect. Best of all was the lunch with a family supported thereby with Envoy Tours / Hostel in Tbilisi, near Haghpat. It was a charming stop.A little farm-ette perched on the edge of a high mountain with stunning views towards a distant Yerevan in the south, replete with their horses, cats, dogs and chickens and their cozy rural home.I had envisioned this lunch to be a hurried run- of- the - mill road- diner -pit stop. It reminded me very much of the comfortable small homes in Slovakia, Romania and Moldova where I stayed, lived and worked with locals on construction jobs....well cared for, warm and inviting. We were not there long, but enough to feel totally welcomed and relaxed. That brief stop and being with that gentle couple eating their incredibly delicious food is what I will always treasure. At Haghpat we were leaving the monastery.Several souvenier stands were nearby.I bought a small wooden cross necklace .I wished I had enough money to buy something or all of their items, feeling for these old women. I saw a small shop, stopped and laughed, caled Keto our guide over and showed her my screenshot on my phone...two months ago I did a screen shot of that same shop to remember that yes ,there are people there who live and sell souveniers to folks who just come and then move on.

Wonderful way to see Northern Armenia—which is full of stunning views—in a short amount of time. The monasteries we visited were beautiful and full of history. Our guide Keto was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the history and present interactions between Armenia and Georgia. The highlights were our driver, Keto, and the delicious homemade meal prepared for us. Highly recommend!
