Khustain Nuruu National Park

We start our Mongolia Travel from Enza Tours LLC office. Before we start our tour guide and local driver will introduce them. We will drive to Khustai national park, which is a place for wild animals. The most interesting thing is to watch wild horse “Takhi”, which were discovered by the Doctor Prezwalski in 1933. Takhi were almost extinct but people rehabilitated this creature in the wildlife. We will discover in this area animals such as well as wolfs, marmots, wild sheep and deer. Our aim will be to descry a family of wild horses including its babies. After that, we will do some hiking through the untouched nature, sort of flora and we suggest you bring your camera to have nice landscapes photos. In the end, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar city. In the city, you will be able to go out with your guide to see around the city and to have Mongolian dinner together.

One day at Khustai is probably not enough as half the time is spend driving from/to UB; go for 2 days if you have the time. But as a taster, this is a good tour. The park is beautiful and I had a good view of wild horses and an eagle. There is also an hour-long horse ride so you can channel your inner nomad. My guide Ichko (Coco) and driver Ganaa were both very good.

This 1 day tour from Ulaan Baatar is a nice introduction to this vast national park. The guide was great at finding the horses - which during our tour where high up in the hills and could only be seen with binoculars (provided by the tour guide). We did a short walk, but primarily drove to find the horses. We also saw ground squirrels, marmots, and a few hawks. We walked on sand dunes. The park is huge and for nature lovers, it would make an interesting 3-4 day trip. There are ghers at the park entrance and one can stay there overnight. The lunch was at the park entrance and very tasty. A horseback ride was supposed to be included in the tour, but since we booked the tour only the night before, we did not have time to fit it into the schedule. Actually spending more time in the park was more interesting.
