You will check-in at the Momella Public Campsite where your driver/guide will give you a short introduction and explanation of the details of your tour as the campsite tents are set up. After breakfast, you will start the day with a beautiful nature walk with an armed ranger; enjoying the impressive flora and fauna of this area, with waterfalls and huge fig trees. The walk takes about 2-4 hours. Walking safaris can be as short or as long as desired. You will return to camp for a hot lunch and then take off on an evening game drive, spotting wildlife while enjoying the spectacular views of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro, waterfalls, lakes, swamps and steep cliffs. Alternatively, in consultation with your guide, you can choose to do an optional excursion (at additional costs): a walk to Meru’s Summit. Momella Lake is one of the best places in Tanzania to see waterbirds: flamingo, pelican, little grebe, a variety of heron, duck and wader are common. Augur buzzard, Verreaux’s eagle and other cliff-associated raptors can often be seen flying above Ngurdoto Crater. At the end of the day, you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, you begin your drive to Mto Wa Mbu, where you will spend an hour or two wandering around this busy town. You’ll learn more about the life of the Masaai and the 100 or so other cultural groups living in this area (some in traditional huts). We visit plantations, local craftsmen, taste banana beer in an authentic bar and amble past the many market stalls with local produce. Lunch is served by a cheerful Tanzanian “mamma” who will delight you with tasty local dishes. Then it’s on safari in Lake Manyara National Park where we will set up camp in a beautiful restful site in the heart of the park at Endabash Public Campsite. Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara is perfect for viewing Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded. Even a first-time visitor to Africa can reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. A big array of water-associated birds including pink-backed pelicans, herons and storks, sacred and glossy ibis, and black egret are easily seen around the hippo pool. When the water level is right, the lake is also home to thousands of pink-hued flamingo. More than 50 birds-of-prey have been recorded including the crowned eagle and African hawk-eagle. Before breakfast, we plan a game drive in the calm early morning park and with a little bit of luck, you will experience a beautiful sunrise over the lake with an abundance of flamingoes and hopefully spot lions close-bye. After midday heat, we take another game drive on a different route. Most animals are making their way down to the river for a much-needed drink … and at this time of day, the famous Manyara lions could be spotted in the trees!

Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, we take our lunchboxes and leave for Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a spectacular area with panoramic views over the crater hundreds of meters below. Today is also an adventurous safari day as a large part of this route is straight across the centre of the Serengeti National Park, the area of the Seronera River. The Serengeti has more than 500 bird species recorded. The Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is one of Africa’s Endemic Bird Areas (land important for habitat-based bird conservation), hosting five bird species found nowhere else. Distance: 210 km Time/road condition: 6 hours, partly paved, mostly sandy and bumpy. Dinner and overnight: Seronera Public Campsite.

After breakfast, you will take off on a full day game drive in the Serengeti! The drive will take you along the shores of the Seronera River and Mara River, finding unforgettable moments and a glimpse of wild animals including wildebeest crossing the river, a hunting cheetah, lion or any other predator as well as the magnificent view of the silhouette of a giraffe on the horizon. You will have a chance to see crocodile waiting for an animal to come to the shore for a drink or to cross the river and ambush them. You will enjoy areas that are not known to the greater public and are therefore perfect for an experience off the beaten path. In Seronera area right in the middle of the park, the grey-breasted spurfowl is among the common roadside birds. In forest areas, you will catch sight of flocks of Fischer’s lovebird and unique rufous-tailed weavers. Two other species that can only be found in Serengeti are the grey-crested helmet-shrike and the Usambiro barbet.

You will then check-out and leave for your next campsite on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater. After breakfast, you will depart for an unforgettable game drive in the famous Ngorongoro Crater. You will wind your way down into the caldera with the most breathtaking views along the way. Armed with your guide’s years of experience and his ‘eagle-eyes’, you might encounter a solitary rhino or the chance encounter with an active pride of lion at close quarters. At times the lake is covered with thousands of greater and lesser flamingos. Sand-pipers, storks, the ever-present vultures and other birds will often be found floating overhead. A number of specialized grassland birds are resident in the crater. Most noticeable are the ostrich, kori bustard, crowned crane and the secretary bird. At the hippo pool you will enjoy all the sights and sounds of the lazy hippos enjoying a wallow in the cool water and a mud-bath. You will return for a hot lunch at your campsite and leave for Tarangire National Park. Dinner and overnight: Tarangire Public Campsite.

After breakfast you will take off on another game drive in the park, observing elephants, sometimes very close to the campsite as they gather near the river. Your game drive will take you to Larmaku Swamp, a large swamp where you can find elephant and other animals, cooling down in the water and sheltering themselves from the sun in the shadows of the acacia trees. The swamp has the most breeding birds species in one habitat anywhere in the world. The park also harbours several dry-country bird species at the extremity of their range, such as the northern pied babbler and vulturine guineafowl. Regarding encountering wildlife we can not guarantee anything, but the chance that you will see large herds of elephants in this park is 99,9%.

We are a young couple from Germany and started our honeymoon with a 9-day safari in Tanzania with the guide and tour organizer I Dream of Africa. We would simply like to recommend this small, family-run travel company from Tanzania. Christopher put together the trip individually according to our wishes, contact via WhatsApp (+255 754 461 594) was great. He speaks perfect English. We took a day trip to Kilimanjaro and to the Hadza/Datoga tribes and otherwise visited various national parks. Due to Christopher's extensive experience (almost 25 years), we had extremely good animal sightings (Big5, leopard hunting scene, fights between lions, a group of lions sharing a dead zebra, etc.). We were happy that Christopher always treated nature and animals with respect. He offers various accommodation options, but we decided to camp in the national parks, for which Christopher brought the high-quality equipment. We were able to hear the animals at night, went on long observation drives and enjoyed the food prepared by our personal "camp doctor" and cook Japhet. Although we can be picky when it comes to food, we were impressed every day. The two of them made an incredible effort to ensure that we had the best time. The price-performance ratio was really good. Because we are very grateful for these wonderful experiences, we would like to recommend Christopher's Safari to you. With so many European companies, it is difficult to advertise as a Tanzanian tour operator, but this is the only way the money goes directly to the tour operators in the country. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us.

Chris was extremely attentive and gave detailed explanations on the wildlife, flora and fauna that can be seen there. He was a good spotter of animals and as a result I saw the Big 5 including Rhinos and Cheetahs. Accommodation in the camps was as comfortable as you can get out in the Savannahs, all came with attached bathrooms and food was excellent. One note to mention was my wife had issues with her luggage and Chris helped even though it was late and during sleeping hours. Highly recommended!

Chris was highly helpful and accommodating throughout the trip, explaining the various wildlife, flora and fauna. He was also a good spotter and we were lucky and managed to see the Big 5 animals. One particular incident that stood out was my wife's luggage was accidentally locked and he went out of the way to help us at night. Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful and impressive trips we have ever made! We spend twelve beautiful days with Christopher and Jaffed from “I dream of Afrika” on a wildlife and cultural safari in Tanzania. The safari was perfectly organized by Christopher, who diligently included all our preferences and wishes in a well-rounded and exciting tour, balancing the excitement of enjoying one of the planet’s wildest and spectacular nature with unique personal encounters with locals and time for relaxation. With his experience of many years as guide and ranger, Christopher knows all the special places, is great at spotting animals and willingly shares his vast knowledge about them. Christopher even organized walking safaris with rangers at two of the parks, which is a treat not many tourists do, offering fascinating insights not observable from the backseat of a car. We also enjoyed hunting with the Hadza bushmen tribe and the spontaneous visit to the stunning Oluvai gorge, which Christopher made possible. During the Safari, we decided to stay on public campsites and enjoyed it a lot. The tent was quadruple the size of our tent back home, with comfy mattresses and great views. Jaffed was a great personal cook and kept us well fed with amazing pancakes and his love for italian food, but also amazing local dishes. We also won't forget our visit to the local food market and the Ugali-cooking lessons. We loved learning bits of Swahili from Christopher and Jaffed and to learn from them about Tanzania's complex cultures and traditions. Overall, we can wholeheartedly recommend Dreams of Africa. The well-organized experience of nature, wildlife and culture in Tanzania surpassed all our expectations. We will never forget the amazing time with Jaffed and Christopher.

Our time in Tanzania with Christopher, Japhet and Warren was amazing. The trip was tailored to our wishes. We did a 10-day trip and visited Serengeti North & Central, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Loiborsoit (an off the beaten track Maasai village). Communication beforehand and during the trip was great. The food in the bush was great, Japhet excelled every day. Tanzania is an expensive country for tourists, mostly due to the high costs of the National Parks. The camping experience was great and greatly reduced the price compared to lodging. It was quite adventurous, so read up on what to expect. But in our opinion, it was the purest way to enjoy the beautiful nature. Loiborsoit was very special: we stayed in a guesthouse with good beds and hot water. Outside of the guesthouse, you'll experience the actual way of living of the Maasai. Our local guide, Lengai, left us with lifelong impressions. If you want to spend some days with the Maasai of Loiborsoit to learn about their culture, experience their way of living and enjoy their kindness, please visit and support them!
